SAFS will be having its Annual Meeting in London Ontario May 29-30. Andrew Irvine (UBC-O) will be giving the keynote talks both days. Our keynote speaker and Furedy lecturer at the May 29-30 Annual Meeting will be Andrew Irvine from the University of British Columbia Okanagan. He will speak on academic freedom at universities in two lectures entitled: "Non-sectarian and Non-political in Principle" (Friday) and "Time, Place and Manner: Distinguishing Regulation and Censorship" (Saturday).
A long-time defender of academic freedom and traditional democratic civil liberties, Irvine has held visiting positions at Canadian, British and American universities, including the University of Cambridge and Stanford University.
