We will be having our next General Membership meeting on November 6th, 2019.

In the meeting, we will be holding by-elections for the following positions: Vice-President Communications and Secretary-Treasurer.

𝐂𝐔𝐏𝐄 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝟐𝟒𝟏𝟗 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐔𝐑𝐅𝐀, 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐮𝐬 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. As precarious workers, we understand the struggle facing sessional instructors, and faculty. As students, we want a quality work environment for faculty so our professors can provide a quality educational environment to us.

We call for the University of Regina to address the precarious work situation facing sessional instructors, to maintain the University’s research mission and to provide a fair wage model that keeps up with the rate of inflation.

𝐖𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧-𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐔𝐑𝐅𝐀.

Any member who chooses to participate in the picket line will be eligible for strike pay of $300 a week under the CUPE National Strike Fund Regulations. Money paid is compensation for lost wage for those who participate in job action by carrying-out strike related duties, such as supporting the URFA picket line. We have written a letter asking for clarification from the University administration about expectations of our members during a work stoppage. We will send an update when we know more.

RPIRG board elections are coming up! If you or someone you know is interested in gaining great skills in non-profit governance, programming and outreach, and learning about how to foster and support student engagement, this is the role for you! No experience is necessary and all training is provided.

Important: CUPE 2419: SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING!

We are pleased to announce a tentative agreement had been reached with the university for a revised collective agreement. We are arranging an exclusive membership meeting on Feb 13th, 2019 to ratify the revised collective agreement. At the meeting, the executive members will be presenting the agreement and discuss about the salary increase.

Why should you attend the meeting? Well the ratification instigate the new collective agreement and offers the negotiated salary for the RA’s & TA’s. YES! We got a RAISE in wages!! So what are you waiting for , do show up for the meeting and help us in the process of ratification.
