🍎 World Teachers’ Day - October 5

Today we celebrate us, teachers.

Across Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, and around the world, teachers show up every day to do work that matters. We teach. We listen. We advocate. We build relationships. We support students through challenges and celebrate their successes. And we do it together, as a profession committed to public education and to the students and communities we serve.

This year’s UNESCO theme, “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures,” speaks to something we know well: strong public education depends on a strong teaching profession.

Standing with teachers means recognizing the expertise we bring to our classrooms, respecting our professional voices, and creating the conditions that allow us to do our jobs well.

As RPSTA members, we are part of a profession that extends far beyond our own schools. We stand alongside teachers across Saskatchewan, across Canada, and around the world who are working every day to support their students and strengthen public education.

Today, we celebrate our colleagues, our profession, and the collective work we do for students and communities.

Happy World Teachers’ Day to teachers everywhere. ❤️🍎

Today, 20 RPSTA members rolled up their sleeves and joined the Thomson Food Collective (TFC) to help prepare and serve their annual turkey dinner for 400 people at the Regina Senior Citizen’s Centre. 🦃

We love the work TFC does in our community, including serving breakfast to the students at Thomson School five days a week. As our classrooms become more complex, social programs are cut, and issues like food insecurity continue to grow, it’s more important than ever for educators and our community to work together to find solutions and show solidarity.

A huge thank you to the Regina Public teachers who came out today, lent a hand, and helped make the event a success. We did our part, made some great connections, and had a blast doing it!

This is what community looks like. ✊🏼

📣 RPSTA Assembly Meeting Reminder 📣

Our next RPSTA Assembly meeting is coming up on Monday, October 5 at 4:15 p.m. at Campus Regina Public!

We had a fantastic turnout for our September meeting, and we’d love to see everyone back again this month!

Assembly is a great opportunity for reps to:
🍎 Get important updates and information from your RPSTA Executive
💬 Bring questions, concerns, and feedback from your school
🤝 Connect with fellow reps from across Regina
📣 Share information with your colleagues when you return to your school

Your voice and your school’s voice matter. Assembly is one of the best ways to stay informed and help keep the Executive connected to what’s happening in our schools.

We’ll see you Monday!

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation | September 30

On September 30, RPSTA joins Canadians in honouring the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

As educators, we have a responsibility to learn, teach the truth, listen to Indigenous voices, and help create schools where Indigenous histories, cultures, and experiences are respected and valued.

Reconciliation is more than remembrance on a single day. Today, we remember. Every day, we continue the work of reconciliation.

🧡 Every Child Matters.
🧡 Every Child. Every Day.

🎉 The RPSTA School Spirit Award is BACK! 🎉

We’re bringing back a little friendly competition, some school spirit, and hopefully a whole lot of fun!

The RPSTA School Spirit Award originally launched in 2019, but COVID put the initiative on pause. Now, we’re excited to bring it back for the 2026–27 school year! 🥳

The goal is simple: get your school staff together, have some fun, and build connections with your colleagues!

Each month, we’ll release a list of fun School Spirit Challenges. Complete the challenges, snap some pictures, and send them to [email protected] to claim your points for your school! 📸🏆

And there are some pretty awesome prizes up for grabs! 👀

December Prize: The school in the lead will have their MCBG grant DOUBLED! Extra funds for your staff party? Yes please!!

Year-End Prize: The overall winning school will receive LUNCH FOR THEIR ENTIRE SCHOOL STAFF!

Plus, additional prizes will be announced throughout the year!

So, what can you expect? Here are just a few of the September challenges:

📸 Book an RPSTA President school visit
