It’s been over a week since our MSR staff came together last Friday for a PD opportunity presented by Dr. Michael Cappello from the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina entitled, “Considering the Possibilities of Costly Reconciliation: A Conversation.”
As educators, we recognize our responsibility to continue learning about our shared history and reconciliation so that the lessons and conversations we bring into our classrooms are informed, respectful, accurate, and meaningful.
The key points of the presentation were learning about the experiences of residential schools through photos and the stories behind them, defining reconciliation through our own understanding, and reflecting on how we can better live out reconciliation in our everyday lives and actions.
Dr. Michael is also one of our MSR parents, and we are grateful to be building a community where our families are actively helping us strengthen the intentional education we provide to our students.
It was a wonderful opportunity for learning, growth, and conversation. Thank you so much to Dr. Michael Cappello for sharing his knowledge with our MSR Team.
May we continue to listen, learn, and act—not only today, but every day—as we work toward meaningful reconciliation.
