Happy Labour Day Saskatchewan!

Let today serve as a day for celebrating past victories in the labour movement as well as a day of advocacy for the current struggles workers face in their fight for fair and safe workplaces.

Have a wonderful Labour Day folks 😁

I went and voted tonight after work, and it took me less than 5 minutes! It was so easy peasy (however they didn’t give me a sticker šŸ˜‘)

Go and vote! Polls are open again tomorrow @ 10 am!

Make sure you make your voice heard in this provincial election. Vote for the candidate you feel will serve you and your neighbours best.

Voting starts today friends! Get out there & use your vote to make your voice heard!

I’ve been stupendously busy working on a campaign, and so I haven’t been able to create all of the content I originally wanted to do when starting this page.

in this election;
I’m voting for public services. I’m voting for public education, public healthcare, public crown corporations. I’m voting for good jobs & a plan for a strong economy. I’m voting for housing first plans & the decriminalization of survival. I’m voting for HARM REDUCTION.

All that to say that I’m voting for change this election!

Research the candidates in your area & find out where your nearest polling stations are so that you can cast your ballot during voting week. Vote like your future depends on it, because it does!

If you aren’t registered, you can register at the polls! Don’t let the election pass you but before making your voice heard!

SYV is posting in observance of today. Every Child Matters. Truth & Reconciliation is the only way forward.

Educate yourself about the importance of Orange Shirt day, and about the history of Indigenous people and ā€œCanadaā€.

Representation Matters!

As parties nominate candidates, it’s important to look for gender parity. Women & gender diverse people make up about half of our population; our legislature should reflect that; but as we know, it does not.

Putting aside bias is so important when it comes to electing women & gender diverse people. Many times, folks who are not cisgender, heterosexual, white men face scrutiny in the political sphere; being asked about marriage status, whether they have children & if being elected to public office will interfere with that.

This election, and every election— focus on POLICY & PLATFORM! The sex/gender of the candidate should not overshadow their policy plans. If they don’t have good, comprehensive policy plans— don’t vote for them! Being an informed voter is so important in this age of misinformation online. Feeling empowered in your choice you make at the polls is something every eligible voter should feel. Research the candidates in your constituency today, and never be afraid to reach out to the candidates themselves to ask them (respectful) questions.

SYV reminder: Harassing anyone is never okay— being respectful will take you far!

If you’ve been noticing an uptick in political announcements in recent weeks, that’s because there’s an election looming (you know that šŸ˜‰)!

This election cycle, have confidence in the information you repeat to other people. Misinformation is on the rise, and we need to work as a collective to combat it the best we can!

Here are some of our tips for using social media during a general election. We hope that with these, we can curb misinformation in the province before folks start heading to the polls next month.

Register to vote at your current address today! The election is approaching quickly.
