Prairie Valley School Division

Prairie Valley receives a small portion of their funding from sources other than provincial grants.

These specialized sources of income combined are less than ten per cent of the division's budget.

These include:

- Tuition fees (funding from the Federal government to cover educational costs for First Nations students choosing to attend Prairie Valley schools instead of the school on their First Nation).

- Other revenue such as investments, sale of assets (e.g. buses), facility rental fees, etc.

Provincial grants make up over 90% per cent of PVSD’s revenues. This includes operating grants, capital grants, and other targeted funding grants (such as School Food Programming, Early Learning Intensive Supports, and Mental Health Capacity Building).

The Government of Saskatchewan’s provincial budget for the 2026-2027 school year includes school operating grant funding for Saskatchewan’s 27 school divisions of $2.5 billion.

This is an increase of $62.2 million, or 2.6 per cent, over the 2025-2026 school year, including:
• $28.9 million for salary and benefit increases;
• $16.3 million for an additional 50 Specialized Support Classrooms;
• $9.2 million for inflationary pressures; and,
• $7.8 million for enrolment growth.

Capital grant funding for Saskatchewan’s 27 school divisions is $123.8 million, a decrease of $67.5 million or 54.5 per cent from prior year.

Preventative Maintenance and Renewal grant funding is unchanged from prior year at $65 million.

It is a time to recognize and celebrate the traditions, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

Today, we honour the vibrant cultures, languages, histories, and traditions of Indigenous peoples across Canada and within our own communities.

The visual identity for National Indigenous Peoples Day features meaningful symbols and vibrant colours that celebrate the diversity and interconnectedness of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultures. A feather, narwhal, and fiddle represent the distinct traditions of each group, while flowing lines, beadwork-inspired patterns, and sunrise colours symbolize connection, resilience, renewal, and hope.

Prairie Valley School Division reaffirms its commitment to meaningful consultation, cooperation, and engagement with Indigenous partners, and to continued learning, respect, and relationship-building.
