During the month of June, we celebrate love, acceptance, and belonging. At FYLC, we strive to ensure that every child, family, and staff member who walks through our doors feels safe, valued, and respected.

Our children range in age from infancy to 6 years old, so we focus on teaching what is developmentally appropriate. That means learning kindness, empathy, and respect for others. It means helping children understand that they are important, that they are loved, and that every family is special—regardless of what that family looks like.

Celebrating Pride is about creating a community where everyone feels they belong. We are proud to support and celebrate all of the diverse families that make up the FYLC community.

It’s the last Wednesday in May! We had so much fun celebrating our amazing team this month! Today, the center bought pizza lunch for everyone! It was a great way to wrap up ECE Appreciation month!! ♥️🍕

PSK A & B released their painted ladies butterflies today! They raise them from worms all the way to becoming beautiful butterflies 🦋 It’s become a beautiful tradition we love doing every year! ♥️

Another Wednesday in May means another gift for our incredible team!! ✨
Today’s gift was a custom tumbler and a crystal light package for hot summer days! ☀️HAPPY ECE MONTH!! ♥️

Today in the infant room, Kim set up a squishy sensory experience. She used gelatin and food colouring to make a firm, flavourless jello. This ensured it was safe for consumption if the infants put it in their mouth, but wouldn’t be sweet like regular jello, so much less enticing to eat. Kim added all kinds of items such as cars, animals, old plastic gift cards, toy tools and so much more. The infants squished and smooshed for a long time. This experience provided fine motor development, sensory input of all kinds, hand eye coordination, social-emotional learning, and just a really fun time. Play is learning and this experience was educational and fun for the infants!
