As we celebrate the achievements of our Spring 2026 graduates, we are pleased to recognize Bao Yang (BEd Elementary, YNTEP After Degree), recipient of the Bachelor of Education After Degree (BEAD) Prize.
Graduating with Great Distinction and an exceptional 94.16% program GPA, Bo was recognized as the Most Distinguished Graduate in the Bachelor of Education After Degree program. Throughout her studies, she demonstrated academic excellence and a deep commitment to creating welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environments for all learners.
Originally from Guangdong, China, Bo has called the Yukon home for more than 15 years. Before becoming a teacher, she worked as an Educational Assistant, where her experiences supporting students inspired her to pursue a career in education. Grounded in the values of community care and inclusive education, Bo is dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships and helping every student thrive.

Congratulations to Emma Metz (BEd Elementary), recipient of the Faculty of Education Dean's Medal and the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation (STF) Award at Spring 2026 Convocation.
Emma graduates with an outstanding 92.1% program grade point average and has demonstrated exceptional leadership, service, and commitment to inclusive education throughout her studies. From supporting diverse learners as an Instructional Assistant and Summer Program Worker to delivering STEM programming across Saskatchewan through the University of Regina's EYES program, Emma has consistently made a positive impact on students and communities.
These prestigious honours recognize Emma as the most distinguished graduating student receiving a first degree in the Faculty of Education, celebrating her remarkable balance of academic excellence and community leadership.

Congratulations to Walker Strueby, one of our 2026-2027 University of Regina Chancellor’s Scholars! 🎓

A student at Vanier Collegiate in Moose Jaw, Walker has combined entrepreneurship, athletics, and community involvement throughout his high school career. As the owner of MJ Auto Detailing, he has grown a successful business while balancing academics, sports, and volunteer commitments.

Walker has competed in basketball, volleyball, and track and field, earning a provincial bronze medal in volleyball and serving as co-captain of his team in Grade 12. He has also spent seven years officiating high-level hockey and now helps mentor the next generation of officials as a referee coach.

This fall, Walker will begin pursuing a degree in Secondary Education through the University of Regina Faculty of Education as a Chancellor’s Scholar.

Well done, Walker! We look forward to seeing the leadership and dedication you bring to the University of Regina community.

Congratulations to Jael Wells, one of our 2026-2027 University of Regina Chancellor’s Scholars! 🎓

A student at Harvest City Christian Academy, Jael has made a strong impact through leadership, athletics, and the arts. As co-president of the Student Leadership Council, she has helped organize events and introduce new traditions that strengthen her school community.

A standout athlete, Jael has captained both her volleyball and basketball teams, leading them to multiple championships and earning MVP honours along the way. She also gives back to the game as a basketball referee and coach. Beyond athletics, Jael is active in drama productions and maintains a strong academic record, demonstrating her versatility and commitment across all areas of school life.

This fall, she will join the University of Regina Cougars basketball program while pursuing a dual degree in the University of Regina Faculty of Education and University of Regina All Kinected as a Chancellor’s Scholar.

Congratulations to Zoe Schellenberg, 2026-2027 University of Regina Chancellor’s Scholar! 🎓

A graduate of Warman High School, Zoe has made leadership, teamwork, and community involvement central to her high school experience. From serving as a prominent leader on the Student Representative Council to competing in volleyball and badminton, she has embraced every opportunity to make a positive impact.

Her passion for mentorship and service extends beyond school. As an assistant volleyball coach, Zoe helped lead her U13 women’s team to a provincial gold medal last year. She is also actively involved in the Best Buddies Canada program and volunteers regularly at the Warman Thrift Shop, supporting an organization dedicated to global peace and relief efforts.

This fall, Zoe will begin pursuing a degree in Secondary Education through the University of Regina Faculty of Education as a Chancellor’s Scholar. We are excited to see the difference you’ll continue to make at the U of R and beyond!
