Sylvan is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic teacher to teach students from Kindergarten through Grade 12 in the areas of the basic skills: reading, writing, math, and study skills.
Training is provided in centre for all academic programs.
There is no outside time expected for preparation or marking by the teachers. The maximum student teacher ratio at Sylvan is 3:1.
This part time employment opportunity includes instruction hours after school (4-8pm Monday-Thursday) and Saturday (9am-1pm).
The majority of Sylvan’s students are working on academic skills to get caught up so they are able to handle the material in their classrooms. Some of our high school students come for traditional tutoring, most commonly in math. Comfort with the provincial high school math curriculum content is an asset, but not required.
All Sylvan teachers must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education.
