Oh boy have we been busy at Maple Campus! Loving splashing in puddles in the spring weather, some messy play, sensory activities and creating beautiful art with out friends! These are just some of the cool things our teachers at our Maple location have prepared for us to explore.
Keep playing. ☺️

Check out some of our messes! Painted toes, sandy fingers, water tunnels and giant boxes. We love to get messy!
Messy play is crucial to early development in children. It is where discovery, curiosity and learning begin.
"Let them explore in the mud and build dens with boxes. Let them experiment with paint and imagine all day; for a child learns the most when they are allowed to play" - TwinklCares, Twinkl Teaching Resources

Our Maple Campus educators have been busy busy busy with setting up some amazing loose parts and sensory play invitations for our kiddos to explore. From some messy space bags to build your own farms, bubbles and turtles to tying and threading; from hearts and diamond rice bins to make your own cookies, open ended blizzard snow art to slippery slime and everything in between. Our kids are learning how to use their hands and bodies for all sorts of things.
We are exploring how to use loose parts in every day play. These girls built an entire "daycare office" using random miscellaneous items around the room!
Giving children the opportunity to use their imagination and build and create their OWN ideas and bring them to life is the foundation of play in early learning.
The outstanding Maple Campus educators have set up their environments with activities and invitations that are both intentional and conducive to young childrens holistic development. They understand the importance of meeting children where they are at and using their observations to design developmentally appropriate spaces for all of them. Just absolutely fantastic work. ❤️

Here's a peek at what we have been up to the last little while in the Dolphin and Ladybug rooms at our Maple Campus. Lost of process art, messy / sensory play, some button bingo, drawing, melting ice, fixing cabinets, and even feeding a dinosaur!

Look at all of the things our little hands can do!
Children can use thier fingers to unwrap the little animals in tin foil, swirl some paint, play some music, squish some slime and cut out some pictures.
Working on finger and hand muscles gets children ready for writing. We cannot expect little hands to be able to hold a pencil until we have allowed them to squish playdoh, swirl paint and get a bit messy!

Watching children create with open ended loose parts is mesmerizing. The way their little hands know just what to do and how their brains construct a plan that is both original and creative is just amazing.
It is astounding to listen while they learn about foundations and balance, weight distribution and gravity. To be present while they are exploring how colours and shadows work and how light can change the properties of a structure.
The awe and wonder that lights up in their eyes as they put the final piece on the tower cannot be matched.
Its inspiring.
Its beautiful.
Its play.

Santa!! I know him!!
Santa claus came to visit our Maple Campus today. The children were so excited to see him and had all the questions for him. They told him they were all on the nice list and we agree!
What a fun day! Parents, Be sure to check your ProCare for pictures!
