Moving to the cloud doesn't move responsibility for security to the provider. Most cloud arrangements split it: the provider secures the platform, and the customer stays responsible for things like access, configuration and the data itself.

Knowing where that line sits is a governance question before it's a technical one:
→ Which controls are the provider's?
→ Which are yours?
→ Who in your organisation checks that both are working?

The PECB Lead Cloud Security Manager course covers managing security across that shared responsibility.

A tender lands. Someone forwards it with one question: does your organisation hold ISO 9001 certification?

ISO 9001 is a quality management standard. At its core, it asks whether you have a documented, repeatable way of delivering what you promise, and evidence that it works:
→ defined processes with named owners
→ records of what actually happened
→ corrective action when something goes wrong
→ regular review by leadership

An audit doesn't judge whether your product is good. It checks whether your system exists and whether people follow it.

That's why more people are involved than just the quality manager, and why most organisations preparing for ISO 9001 first need someone trained to build and run the system.

The PECB ISO 9001 Lead Implementer course prepares that person.

Your board asks who is accountable when an AI system makes a wrong call. If nobody can answer, that isn't an AI problem. It's a governance gap.

The standards that address it are ones many organisations already work with:
→ ISO/IEC 27001: an AI tool that handles your data is an information asset and a supplier risk
→ ISO 31000: "we use an AI tool we can't inspect" belongs on the risk register, with a named owner
→ ISO 22301: if a critical process now runs on AI, continuity planning has to cover it

For organisations that want a management system built specifically around AI, there's ISO/IEC 42001. It sits alongside these standards, not in place of them.

The PECB ISO/IEC 42001 Foundation course is a practical place to start understanding it.

"Cybersecurity" and "information security" are often used as if they mean the same thing. They overlap, but the scope is different.

→ Information security protects information in every form: digital files, paper records, conversations, and the processes around them.
→ Cybersecurity focuses on protecting systems, networks and data from threats that arrive through digital channels.

That's why ISO/IEC 27001 is written as an information security management standard. It covers the digital side and everything around it: people, suppliers, physical access and how decisions are made.

If your role sits on the technical side, the PECB Cybersecurity Foundation course is a practical starting point.

When people hear "ISO management system," many picture software. It isn't.

In ISO standards, a management system is the way an organisation runs something on purpose:

→ a defined scope
→ named owners
→ documented processes
→ evidence they're followed
→ regular review and improvement

ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 9001, ISO 22301 and ISO/IEC 42001 share this structure, which is why learning one makes the others easier.

The PECB ISO/IEC 27001 Foundation course is a common place to start.

Your biggest customer just asked whether you're ISO 27001 certified. Before anything else, it helps to know what they're actually asking.

ISO/IEC 27001 is a management system standard, not a security audit. It doesn't tell you which firewall to buy. It asks whether your organisation has a documented, repeatable way to:

→ decide what information it needs to protect
→ assess the risks to it
→ choose controls and check that they work
→ review and improve the system over time

The work isn't purely technical. Whoever owns supplier contracts, whoever decides which assets matter, and whoever signs off on risk all have a part. Leadership involvement is written into the standard.

So when a customer asks if you're certified, they're asking a governance question, not just an IT one.

The PECB ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer course prepares the person who builds and runs that system.

If part of your team's work now depends on an AI tool, what happens when it's unavailable for a day?

That's a business continuity question (ISO 22301), not a technology one. It comes down to:

→ Which processes stop if the tool is down?
→ Is there a manual fallback, and does anyone know how to use it?
→ How long can the organization keep operating without it?

Continuity planning was built for exactly this kind of disruption. This is the kind of question the PECB ISO 22301 Lead Implementer course prepares you to answer.

If your team uses an AI tool you can't inspect, that's a supplier question before it's a technology question.

Under an information security management system (ISO/IEC 27001), you'd ask:
→ What data goes into it?
→ What does the contract say about that data?
→ Who reviews the arrangement, and how often?

Most organizations adopted the tool first and haven't asked these questions yet.

This is the kind of question the PECB ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer course prepares you to answer.
