After training at the University of Sasakatchewan, where she received her Bachelor of Music in Music Education, she continued her studies at the University of Alberta in Orff Schulwerk and served on the National Board for eight years. She also taught part-time as a sessional instructor at the University of Regina. Marlene has received a number of awards for her teaching from the Saskatchewan Orff

Join the Boomtown Community Drum Collective as we begin preparations for our performance at the Cathedral Village Arts Festival. We will be working through two pieces that are familiar to most of you. Our goal is to see if we can get these up to dance speed. Fee is $10.00 / person. Join this week’s drum circle, Saturday May 13- 11:00-12:00 a.m. as we revisit our top arrangements and drum rhythms from the past term. Some of our hits will include Doudoumba, Djole, and Kpanlogo to name a few. Think of it as the best playlist you could curate from a drumming perspective. This week- April 15th at Boomtown Drums (1801 Retallack Street) we are having our family drum circle session from 11:00-12:00. Join Marlene as we drum in Spring while raising our spirits and celebrating the warmer weather ahead!
