🌱✨ May is Early Childhood Education Month! ✨🌱

This month, we celebrate the incredible educators who help shape young minds through play, exploration, and connection. From the first spark of curiosity to the joy of outdoor adventures and hands-on learning, early childhood educators lay the foundation for lifelong learning. 💡🧸🌳

Let’s thank and honour the passionate professionals who nurture, inspire, and empower our youngest learners every day. 💚

Sensory play is an essential part of an early learning environment. Sensory play enhances fine motor skills, helps with emotional regulation, allows children to explore their world and engages all five senses. It also provides opportunities for social development, language development and provides opportunities to develop problem solving skills.

“When children interact with loose parts, they enter a world of “what if” that promotes the type of thinking that leads to problem solving and theoretical reasoning. Loose parts enhance children’s ability to think imaginatively and see solutions, and they bring a sense of adventure and excitement to children’s play.”
(Lisa Daly and Miriam Beloglovsky, Loose Parts, 2015)

The wonder of watching children play with loose parts!

A 5yr. old boy worked hard to build this car. When asked to tell me about what he was building, he replied very excitingly with the following explanation.

“This is an electric car and there’s like electric juicer when the car run out of electric then we’ll put the electric back in the car and it will go zoom! It will drive forever. There’s a TNT thing inside here(pointing to the tall white tube) and there’s like the batteries inside. The batteries are magic. If the batteries break they will turn into two batteries and the car will be more faster than forever and longer than forever. Never try to sleep in the car. If you’re tired of driving the car just press the TNT and put in the location and it will drive you home to sleep.
I made this so fast!”
