Today in Social Studies, we learned about Metis Culture. We read the story "The Flower Beadwork People" which explained the life of Metis Peoples and how they came to be. One thing that the story talked about was the Metis Sash that was and still is very important to them. We had the opportunity to try and braid our own sashes and many of the students had never braided before. If was an adventure in itself but am incredibly proud of how hard they tried!

Teacher Win!! My fiance and I decided to have my grade 4/5's and his grade 9's write letters back and forth to work on writing but also engage my students and give them some love and positive reinforcement! I can't believe how excited they were to read their first letters and write back, one student even said "Miss S, this letter makes me feel so happy!" His comment honestly melted my heart. I know my students can truly do amazing things when they have someone believing in them 🥰💛📝

We started this novel yesterday in grade 4/5 and my students loved it! They asked me to keep reading even when it meant they got a shorter break. A lot of my students are of Indigenous culture and I love their passion towards learning what some of their family members have gone through. I also love learning from them about their culture and I sure am learning a lot! 📖

This teacher sure is exhausted but sure is excited to make it to the first Friday of the school year! Can someone get me a glass of wine?? 🍷

I had planned to take a better first day picture, but to be honest, today was really difficult, I questioned whether I was able to do this job and shed many tears. But don't worry, I am okay and very grateful for my supportive staff and my personal support system! I am optimistic that tomorrow will be a better day and that I am destined to do great things in this career! I hope that sharing my day can help others who may feel this way because I learned by sharing my feelings I was truly not alone! Here's to things only going up from here! 🥰
