It’s Literacy Week! In preparation for literacy week the children wrote their own book. The Eagles talked about parts of a story beginning, middle and end. There were a lot of silly conversations as they flushed out the details of their story. The Owls (toddlers) and Bunnies did the artwork. Once their book was complete they gathered to hear their story! Caitlyn read it to the group and they were so interested in their masterpiece. ❤️

It is a rare experience for P&D to have open spots and everyone on the waitlist be for next year or the children aren’t old enough yet. So we are taking children from the public. If you need a spot you will find the contact information in the poster. We hope to hear from you. 🙂. Please note that we are closed from 3:00 today to January 4th and re-open on January 5th.

Toddler Wind Exploration Today we explored wind using fans and colourful scarves. Nikosis and Harrison were especially excited, holding scarves up to the fans, watching them fly, and even standing in front of the breeze to feel the wind on their faces. Some friends were curious and joined in right away, while others seemed a little unsure and preferred to watch from a distance, taking their time to feel comfortable.
This experience supported their holistic development by encouraging sensory exploration, problem-solving, observation skills, and confidence as they explored at their own pace.
As their educator, I loved seeing how differently each child engaged. It was a great reminder that every child learns in their own way, and each response, whether excitement or caution, is part of meaningful, authentic learning.

The children were learning about construction and so they decided to use some tools in the playdough they made.
First the group looked at the tools together and talked about how to use them. Then they flattened out the playdough using the mallet or their hands. Some children cut it into pieces while others made a print of the tool, like the wrench. This sensory experience was a hands on learning experience. Using real materials leads to a more engaging activity experience.
Do you ever play playdough at home?

Our team always strives to provide a dynamic, ever changing child centered environment. This means observing their interests and responding to that by creating engaging play spaces that reflect their curiosities and needs. Engaging activities and spaces allow the children to expand their knowledge and extend their learning.
