Early childhood educators do so much more than what meets the eye.

We create spaces where children feel safe to explore, wonder, question, create and simply be themselves.

We notice the little things.
We listen to the stories.
We celebrate the attempts.
We sit alongside them when something feels hard.
We make room for their ideas and follow where their curiosity takes them.

Much of this work happens quietly, in moments that may seem small but those moments are building something much bigger.

Confidence. Connection. Belonging. Curiosity.

The early years are the foundation for so much of what comes next and we are incredibly proud of the educators who show up each day to help build that foundation.

To our educators: what you do matters. More than you know.

REAL LIFE. REAL PLAY.

A telephone.
A keyboard.
A newspaper.
A suitcase.
A desk.

Ordinary objects to us…
but endless possibilities to a child.

When we bring real-life resources into our dramatic play spaces, we give children opportunities to explore the world they know.

They imitate what they see.
They recreate experiences.
They develop language.
They negotiate roles.
They build relationships.
They make sense of the world around them.

A telephone becomes a conversation.
A keyboard becomes an office.
A suitcase becomes a journey.
A newspaper becomes… well, whatever their imagination decides.

And perhaps that’s the beauty of authentic resources.

We don’t need to tell children how to play.
We simply provide the invitation.

Real objects.
Real experiences.
Real connections.
Real learning.

At Prairie Grown ELC we love watching children take the ordinary and turn it into something extraordinary.

Because sometimes the best toys… aren’t toys at all.

Nature Learning 🌿🎨☀️

Summer at Prairie Grown means learning doesn’t always happen inside four walls. So much of children’s learning happens when they are outside, moving, creating, exploring and simply being curious.

Our days have been filled with outdoor art, drawing in our art books, circle time in the grass, running and rolling down hills, collecting pinecones, acorns and other loose parts, and bringing those treasures back to use in our play and learning.

These experiences are so much more than “just playing.”

🎨 Art outdoors encourages creativity, self-expression, decision-making and fine-motor development.

🏃 Running, rolling, climbing and moving builds strength, balance, coordination, body awareness and confidence.

🌿 Collecting and exploring loose parts encourages curiosity, problem-solving, imagination and early scientific thinking as children observe, sort, compare and create.

Drawing, talking and gathering together outside supports language, communication, social skills and a sense of belonging.

Most importantly, outdoor play gives children the freedom to move their bodies, take appropriate risks, follow their interests and learn through hands on experiences.

Continuing our spotlight by celebrating an important member of our team who helps nourish and care for our children every day 💛

Meet Robenpreet ✨
Since joining our team in February 2026 as our Nutritional Specialist, Robenpreet has brought so much positivity, creativity, and passion to our centre. From the moment she joined us, we knew she would be a perfect fit with her love of cooking, willingness to try new things, and genuine enthusiasm for supporting children.

What makes Robenpreet especially unique is that she also holds her ECE certification, giving her a strong understanding of child development and the important role nutrition plays in children’s growth, learning, and overall well-being. She thoughtfully plans and prepares nutritious meals and snacks that introduce children to new foods, flavors, and healthy eating habits in a positive and engaging way.

Robenpreet is always smiling and brings such a warm, welcoming energy to our centre. Her kindness and positive attitude brighten everyone’s day, and the children are always excited to see what delicious meals she has prepared.

Beyond the kitchen, Robenpreet has shared her love of gardening with our centre by creating a beautiful garden in our backyard alongside the children. Together, they are growing tomatoes, peppers, carrots, and broccoli, giving children the opportunity to learn firsthand about where food comes from and helping them develop a connection to nature, healthy eating, and caring for living things.

Whether she’s preparing nutritious meals, teaching children about gardening, or sharing her positive energy with staff and families, Robenpreet brings so much value to our centre. Her creativity, dedication, and caring nature make a lasting impact on everyone around her.

We are so grateful to have Robenpreet as part of our team and appreciate everything she does to help our children grow, learn, and thrive 🌟

Stay tuned as we continue celebrating our incredible team this 💫
