The First Rider Program is this Friday, August 21.

We will be running a shuttle from Red Lake Madsen Public School to Golden Learning Centre.

The bus will leave RLM at 11:30 AM. The session begins at noon, then the bus will shuttle back around 1:00 PM.

We hope all JK/SK Families and students who are new to bussing can join Northwestern Ontario Student Services Consortium for this great program!

🎒❤️ **Get Ready for Kindergarten: You’ve Got This!** ❤️🎒

And just like that… our **Get Ready for Kindergarten** series is coming to an end!

Over the past few weeks, we’ve shared ideas for building independence, social skills, early literacy and math, fine motor skills, physical skills, and self-regulation.

But here’s our **final and most important reminder**:

✨ **Your child does NOT need to have mastered all of these skills before September.** ✨

Every child comes to Kindergarten with their own unique personality, strengths, experiences, and things they are still learning. That’s exactly what Kindergarten is for!

This summer, keep it simple:
📚 Read a book together.
🌳 Play outside.
🎨 Create something messy.
💬 Talk, listen, and ask questions.
🤗 Practice doing things independently.
😂 Laugh together.
❤️ And most importantly… **play!**

Your child doesn't need a perfect pencil grip, to know every letter or number, or to be able to do everything independently on the first day.

They just need to come with **curiosity, a willingness to try, and a grown-up who believes in them.**

And don't worry… we've got the rest! 🥰

So enjoy these last weeks of summer, soak up the little moments, and get ready for a wonderful new adventure.

✅ Following daily routines
✅ Trying new activities and building confidence

Starting Kindergarten is an exciting step toward becoming more independent. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing simple skills your child can practice at home to help build confidence before September.

Today’s focus: Independence Skills

Children can practice:
✅ Putting on and taking off their coat, shoes, and backpack
✅ Zipping, buttoning, and fastening clothing
✅ Using the washroom independently, including handwashing
✅ Opening lunch containers, snack bags, and water bottles
✅ Putting away toys and helping tidy up after activities

❤️ Why is this important?
Being able to do everyday tasks independently helps children feel confident and capable. These skills allow children to take care of their own needs, participate more fully in classroom routines, and spend more time learning, exploring, and playing.

The road to Kindergarten starts here!

Welcome, Future Kindergarten Families! 🎒🍎

Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing simple, fun ways you can help your child get ready for Junior Kindergarten this September. We'll explore skills that support independence, social development, early literacy and math, fine and gross motor development, and self-regulation.

These aren't worksheets or homework—they're everyday experiences that can be practiced through play, conversation, reading, and spending time together.

Most importantly, there is no expectation that children master all of these skills before September. Every child begins Kindergarten with their own unique strengths, experiences, and interests. Our Kindergarten team is excited to meet your child where they are and help them continue to grow throughout the year.

We hope you'll follow along over the coming weeks for ideas, activities, and tips to help make the transition to Kindergarten a positive and exciting experience.
