Last weekend, our Red Deer dojos had the honor of representing Alberta at the 2026 ISKF Karate National Championship. It was an incredible event with more than 160 competitors from over 6 provinces across Canada.

We would like to thank all the volunteers, ISKF Calgary dojos, Sensei David Jones, and his entire team for organizing such a successful tournament.

Likewise, a special thank you goes to all the competitors and parents from our Red Deer clubs who traveled despite the difficult weather conditions on tournament day to support and bring the students to compete.

The Red Deer dojos were proudly represented by:
• 22 participants from Shotokan Karate Club of Red Deer
• 14 students from Sakura Karate Do

Together, our Red Deer competitors brought home an outstanding total of 35 medals for Team Alberta:
🥇 9 Gold
🥈 11 Silver
🥉 15 Bronze

Congratulations to all competitors for your hard work, discipline, perseverance, and excellent spirit throughout the tournament. We are extremely proud of all of you. OSS!

On April 22, we had the honor of hosting Sensei David Jones in Red Deer for a seminar and grading session held at Sakura Karate Do Club.

The event brought together students from both Shotokan Karate Club and Sakura Karate Club, providing a valuable opportunity to learn, improve, and demonstrate their skills.

We sincerely thank Sensei Jones for sharing his knowledge, experience, and guidance with our students. His instruction continues to inspire growth and dedication within our karate community.
