Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools is looking for a skilled and motivated Journeyperson Mechanic to join our Transportation team. If you are an Automotive Service Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and wants a stable Monday to Friday schedule, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a fleet of school buses
Complete Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) inspections
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air brake systems
Respond to vehicle breakdowns and emergency repairs as required
Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records
Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with provincial regulations
Work collaboratively with the Transportation team to maintain fleet reliability
Qualifications
Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate
Valid CVIP Licence (or willingness to obtain)
Experience repairing medium- and heavy-duty vehicles is considered an asset
Valid driver's licence (Class 2 with S Endorsement is an asset or willingness to obtain)
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
Own hand tools
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Join us next Tuesday, August 11, for the first of our annual First Rider events.
First Rider is an event that introduces young children and their parents to school bus safety. This event is important for those taking the school bus for the first time.
There is no cost to attend. Parents and children can expect to spend approximately 45 minutes on site as our partners showcase school bus safety.

Welcome back, St. Patrick's Community School!
St. Pat's students returned to school with staggered entry over the next two days. We're excited for everyone to be together on Monday, August 10.
We're asking motorists to please be extra cautious in school zones. Watch for students, obey all speed limits, and stop for school buses. Thanks for helping us keep everyone safe!

Local Indigenous Elder Darryl Lickers, well known throughout our Division for the incredible work he does with the Indigenous Education Services - Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools Team, staff, and students, was in the Town of Innisfail this afternoon to bring greetings and a blessing to officially open the 2026 Larry Bishop Memorial Cup - the Junior B Tier 1 provincial lacrosse championship. The tournament is being hosted by the Mavericks Lacrosse Club.
After welcoming the four competing teams, Darryl encouraged the players to play with heart while respecting each other, and the Creator's game.

You might recognize some of the faces from Our Lady of Victory Camp.
Over 500 youth are expected to take part this summer, and our students are blessed to travel to OLVC for faith retreats throughout the school year.

Families can visit us any time between 3:00 - 7:00 pm, but should plan on spending approximately 45 minutes on site. Parents/guardians must accompany their child throughout this event.
