Red Deer Montessori We believe in nurturing curiosity, independence, and a love for learning! Programs for children ages 12 months - 6 years.

Our approach creates a child-centered environment where students explore at their own pace, developing essential skills hands-on. The purpose of the Red Deer Montessori school is to provide an enriched child-focused program based on Maria Montessori’s philosophy of education. We are a privately run preschool that provides the materials and activities that stimulate the child’s natural curiosities and a love of knowledge. This school is a safe place for children to grow, learn and express themselves in a caring atmosphere:

The confidence secret no one talks about?

It's not praise.

It's not rewards.

And it's definitely not getting everything right the first time.

Real confidence is built in the moments when a child encounters a challenge... and discovers they can work through it.

When they make a mistake.

Try again.

Adjust.

Persist.

But the real difference is much deeper.

Not as helpless. Not as passive. Not as people waiting for adults to do everything for them.

But as capable, contributing members of their community.

And honestly?

STOP correcting this.

One of the biggest Montessori shifts is realizing that children learn through doing, not through reminders.

They're the ones who get daily practice managing them.

Montessori doesn't focus on controlling behaviour.

It focuses on developing the skills behind behaviour: patience, resilience, concentration, independence, and self-control.

The result?

Not perfect children.

Capable children.

One of the biggest lessons Montessori taught me is this:

Many power struggles begin when children feel they have no control.

That doesn't mean children run the show.

It means we can provide freedom within clear limits.

Instead of constant commands, try offering two acceptable choices:

✨ "Would you like the red cup or the blue cup?"
✨ "Would you like to walk to the car or hop like a bunny?"
✨ "Would you like to put your shoes on first or your coat first?"

Children have a deep drive for independence. When we honour that need in appropriate ways, cooperation often follows naturally.

The goal isn't obedience.

The goal is helping children become capable, confident, and willing participants in their daily routines.

We have some exciting news!

Today, we're celebrating a very special accomplishment.

After months of hard work, dedication, and commitment to the Montessori philosophy, Ms.Amanat has officially completed Montessori Teacher Training!

Maria Montessori once said,
"The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, 'The children are now working as if I did not exist."

We know Ms.Amanat will continue inspiring independence, curiosity, and a love of learning in the children they serve every day.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Montessori is that children are focused because they're taught to sit quietly all day.

The truth is almost the opposite.

Montessori environments are carefully designed so children can:
