Hockey Alberta, founded in 1907, is the third largest provincial branch of Hockey Canada, and the governing body for amateur hockey in Alberta.

Hockey Alberta has approximately 450 member organizations representing over 100,000 participants.

Want to be part of the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship?

Hockey Canada is looking for passionate volunteers to help bring the World Juniors to life. This is a great opportunity to be part of one of hockey’s biggest events and help create an unforgettable experience for players, fans, and the hockey community in Alberta.

Applications close September 2, 2026.

Volunteer Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age or older as of August 1, 2026
• Commit to a minimum of 6 shifts, ranging from 2–5 hours each
• Consent to required security screening based on the volunteer role, which may include:
• Criminal Record Check
• Hockey Canada Disclosure Form & ITP
• Driver’s Abstract
• Safe Driver’s Agreement
• Social Media Check
• Vulnerable Sector Check

Hockey Alberta and the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame are saddened to learn of the passing of Peter Maher.

Peter was a dedicated volunteer on the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame committee for years and an important part of the Alberta hockey community. His passion for the game, warmth, and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Thank you Peter, for your dedication to hockey in Alberta and for the many memories you helped create. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. 💙

Hockey Alberta’s 2026 Officials Summer School brought 30 officials together in Edmonton for two days of learning, training, and development ahead of the 2026–27 season.

From on ice sessions to fitness, rules education, and learning from experienced officials, there was plenty to take away from this year’s camp.
