Thanks to the Young Alberta Book Society, our Grade 4’s and 5’s thoroughly enjoyed a visit from local author, Sigmund Brouwer! How exciting to be able to learn from and be inspired by such an accomplished author with over 150 published books (ahem, we mean stories! 😉) Merci, Sigmund! 📕 ✍️ 🤓

We have several BW students celebrating Ramadan! Thank you to Ms. Hart for running the Ramadan club for students to attend and do fun activities during lunch time while they are fasting.

This year’s Red Deer Public Edwin Parr Nominee is no stranger to the classroom as her journey has taken her from Educational Assistant to Teacher.

Thank you ABC Country Restaurants in Red Deer for making 500 delicious crêpes for our whole school to celebrate Francophone week at École Barrie Wilson!

Thank you et merci to our whole Bandit community for your OUTSTANDING food drive efforts! The Salvation Army Backpack Program was BLOWN AWAY by the amount of food they received from our school. Way to go, Bandits! Huge thanks to Mrs Alyssa for organizing the drive! Congrats to Mrs Howitt’s class for bringing in the most items at 157! 💙💚

We were so pleased to welcome the Earth Rangers to our school this week! We learned a lot about how to take care of the earth and all who inhabit it. THANK YOU to BW parent Liz Stengl for nominating our school to have NOVA Chemicals sponsor this presentation for our students! Amazing! 💚💙

Thank you to Mrs. Trivedi for coming into 3LB to show the class how Holi is celebrated and sharing this wonderful cultural experience with BW students and staff!

Last call for food donations:
This year we hosted a food drive for the Salvation Army weekend backpack program. Currently, they support 34 schools and 230+ bags to families each week. This program gives families food to eat on the weekend, when they aren’t at school. We are grateful that this program can support our students at Barrie Wilson.
The last day for collection will be this Friday, March 6.
