I often think how hard it is to be a child and have so much of your day dictated by adult expectations. For children, play is their connection to themselves. It is their opportunity to grow and explore their intrinsic nature and interests. It is their autonomy. It is how they learn to build confidence, trust in themselves, and navigate socially. It is their natural way of growing, learning and making sense of their world. Let the children play.

Through the lens of neurobiology and growing young brains/nervous systems, the trajectory is set.
Young children’s capacities to attach, to empathize and to self-regulate will likely determine their ability to thrive as adults.
Our abilities to attach, empathize and self-regulate were all built, in our earliest years, in connection with others.
Throughout our lives, that is the highest reward. 💖

Repost from Wild Peace for Parents and quote from Glennon Doyle 💕
What if parenting became less about telling our children who they should be and more about asking them again and again forever who they already are? Then, when they ell us, we would celebrate instead of concede. It's not: I love you no matter which of my expectations you meet or don't meet. It's: My only expectation is that you become yourself. The more deeply I know you, the more beautiful you become to me."
