Water in Motion

We continued our Movement Through Nature inquiry by shifting our focus from the movement of air to the movement of water! 💧

The children were invited to scoop, pour, splash, and watch closely as water travelled across different surfaces. They experimented with pouring from different heights and angles, noticing where the water went, how quickly it moved, and what happened when they added more.

Through their exploration, the children investigated cause and effect, gravity, direction, and flow, while strengthening coordination and problem-solving skills as they filled, carried, tipped, and poured their containers.

Our reflective surfaces added another layer of discovery as the moving water caught the sunlight and changed what the children could see.

As our exploration continues, we’re wondering:

Where will the water travel?

Look at that print.

Those leaves became butterflies. Millipedes. Spiders. Stick bugs.

Children observed carefully, compared shapes, noticed details, and represented what they saw. They strengthened the muscles in their hands, refined their pencil control, built vocabulary, and connected spoken language to print—all while immersed in a project they genuinely cared about.

These children are going to kindergarten ready in so many more ways than just beautiful printing.

But… wow.

This is what happens when we stop separating play from learning. The learning becomes impossible to miss. 🌿✏️

Nature is one of our favourite teachers. 🌿

This morning, the children explored handcrafted nature sticks wrapped in different textures and tiny bells. They shook, touched, listened, and wandered, discovering how movement and the environment changed the sounds.

Simple materials. Endless curiosity. ✨🪵🔔

One Origins. Four campuses. One shared approach to childhood. 🌿

Across Saint John and Quispamsis, our campuses may look a little different — but what connects them is the same belief in childhood: play, learning, strong relationships, time outdoors, curiosity, and spaces where children can truly thrive.

📍 The Woods — Quispamsis
📍 Origins Valley — Quispamsis
📍 The Park — Saint John
📍 Origins Burpee — Saint John

And with Origins Academy at both The Woods and The Park, our community continues into the school years, too.

We have limited spaces remaining for fall across select campuses and age groups. If you’ve been considering Origins for your family, now is a good time to reach out.

Different places. One shared approach to childhood. 🌱

Another hot week is coming! ☀️💦

Water play is one of the simplest ways to cool down, slow down and have fun on a hot summer day.

A little summer tip: keep a beach bag of extra clothes and towels in your car. You never know when you’ll end up stopping for a splash at the beach, a brook, a splash pad or a water park.

We’re so fortunate in our communities to have so many places to cool down and play. Pack the extra clothes and say yes to the water. 💦

And for our Origins families: this is your friendly reminder that hot weeks mean lots of water play… and lots of extra clothes! ☀️

Yesterday, we celebrated childhood at The Woods. 🌲

There were no stages or speeches—just children proudly leading their families through the places where they learned, imagined, explored, and grew.

The forest trails. The climbing logs. The gardens. The mud kitchen. The places that became part of their story.

At The Woods, nature is more than our backdrop, it is our classroom, our playground, and our greatest teacher.

As our preschoolers prepare for their next adventure, we hope they carry with them muddy boots, curious minds, kind hearts, and a lifelong love of the outdoors.

Thank you to our families for walking alongside us this year, and to our educators for creating a childhood filled with joy, wonder, and belonging.

To our preschoolers: we are so proud of you. 🌿
