“I can already see a difference!” 💛

We often hear this from parents after just a few sessions at LAMI Academy—and it’s exactly what I hope for every child.

My goal is for every child to experience success. That means taking the time to explain things differently, practise together, and adjust our teaching until learning begins to make sense.

Every small step matters. Understanding a new concept, reading a tricky word, or feeling brave enough to try again can help a child begin to believe:

“I can do this!

Week one of our literacy classes is complete, and my heart is so full. 💙

Many of these students have stepped away from their regular school day to attend our literacy program. Their families have placed an incredible amount of trust in me, and I recognize the enormous responsibility that comes with that. I have a very important job to do, and it is one I do not take lightly.

Many students with dyslexia come to us believing that reading will always be difficult or that they simply aren’t good at it. But this week, I saw hope. I saw students begin to realize that they are capable and intelligent learners who simply need to be taught in a way that works for their brains.

There is something incredibly special about watching a child experience success, perhaps for the first time in a long time. The smiles, the confidence, and the pride on their faces mean more to me than I can put into words.

It is such an honour to support these students, help them recognize their strengths, and show them that dyslexia does not define what they can achieve.

This is only the beginning, and I am so hopeful about what lies ahead for each of them. 💙

🇨🇦 We Remember September 11

I still remember exactly where I was on September 11, 2001. I was in my Grade 10 drama class here in Canada. Our teacher was American, and she was desperately trying to get the television to work—even using a wire so we could watch what was unfolding.

The room felt different that day. Even as teenagers, we knew we were witnessing something that would change the world forever.

Today, Canadians stand with our American neighbours as we remember every life lost, including the 24 Canadians who never returned home. We honour the courageous first responders, the families whose lives were forever changed, and the communities across Canada—especially in Newfoundland and Labrador—that welcomed thousands of stranded passengers with extraordinary kindness.

Twenty-five years later, I can still picture that classroom and our teacher trying to connect us to the news.

We remember where we were. We remember those we lost. We will never forget. ❤️

🎒 BACK TO SCHOOL: PARENT EDITION✏️

Lunches packed? Maybe.
Water bottles labelled? Probably not.
Indoor shoes located? Absolutely not.
Bedtime routine restored? We tried.
Children emotionally prepared? Questionable.
Parents emotionally prepared? Also questionable. 😂

Whether your child skips into school smiling or needs a little extra courage walking through those doors, remind them:

✨ You don’t have to know everything on the first day.
✨ Mistakes are part of learning.
✨ Asking for help is a strength.
✨ Your best will look different every day—and that’s okay.

Meet Avah, one of the passionate tutors behind LAMI Academy!

Avah has more than eight years of tutoring experience, working with students both in person and online across the United States. She enjoys teaching French, math, and science and brings energy and enthusiasm to every lesson.

Avah is a fun, encouraging, and energetic tutor whom students absolutely love. We are so lucky to have her as part of the LAMI Academy team! 📚✏️💛

’TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE BACK TO SCHOOL…
FOR OUR STRUGGLING STUDENTS 📚💛

’Twas the night before school, and all through the house,
The worries felt louder—much more than a mouse.

“What if reading is hard?”
“What if I fall behind?”
“What if the answers get stuck in my mind?”

But please remember, as you climb into bed:
You are so much more than the words that you read.

Your grades do not measure the size of your heart,
And learning takes courage—and you’re ready to start.

It’s okay to need help.
It’s okay to go slow.
Every small step helps your confidence grow.

You are creative, determined, courageous, and strong.
You simply learn differently—and that is not wrong.

So take a deep breath. Tomorrow is new.
Your teachers and tutors are cheering for you!

You are capable.
You are worthy.
You are never alone.

Sleep well, sweet students. You’ve already grown. 💛

DAY 10: MEET CHARLOTTE 💛

Meet Charlotte, one of the wonderful faces behind LAMI Academy!

Charlotte works mainly with our middle and high school students and also teaches French at LAMI. But she is so much more than a tutor — she’s a mentor. She has a special way of connecting with her students, building their confidence, and making them feel comfortable being themselves. Our students absolutely love her!

You may also recognize Charlotte from our summer camps. She is the creative brain behind so many of the activities, games, and ideas that make our camps so much fun!

Charlotte is currently in the process of becoming a teacher, and anyone who has watched her work with students knows that she has a natural gift for it. She is patient, encouraging, creative, and genuinely cares about every student she works with.

We are so lucky to have Charlotte as part of the LAMI Academy team! 📚✏️💛
