🎨 Painting without seeing!

As part of our Five Senses curriculum, the children tried painting blindfolded, using touch to find the paper and guide their brushes. 👀🖐️

A fun way to explore how our senses help us understand the world around us!

Using droppers, coloured water and cotton balls, the children experimented with colour mixing while building fine motor skills, curiosity and creativity. 🌈💧

This month, the children will be learning all about how we see, hear, touch, smell and taste the world around us.

Through play, children will build vocabulary, strengthen early literacy and math skills, make predictions, experiment, observe and, most importantly, get curious about how their world works.

We encourage the families enrolled with us to piggyback on our theme this month with your own activities and conversations with your children at home.

This week, Ms. Iris shared a special Indigenous tradition with our children by reading Bannock for Everyone! before everyone rolled up their sleeves to make homemade bannock together.

A big thank you to Ms. Iris for sharing her knowledge and helping create such a meaningful experience for our children.

🥣 Ms. Iris’s Bannock Recipe

Ingredients:
• ½ tsp salt
• ½ tsp sugar
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1 cup flour
• ½ cup milk

Directions:

1. Mix all ingredients together until a soft dough forms.
2. Let the dough rest for 2 hours.
3. Fry in oil over medium-high heat until golden brown on both sides.
4. Enjoy warm! 🧈🍯

Hands on experiences like this bring learning to life while supporting the BC Early Learning Framework.

We’re excited to welcome you back after our week long closure. We were busy reinvesting in making our place great!💚

Here’s what we’ve been working on:

🌱 Brought in topsoil to transform a dusty area into a beautiful new grass space

🪵 Installed landscape ties throughout the yard

🌲 Added fresh cedar mulch

🪨 More pea gravel

🚴 Pressure washed our bike track and added a new perimeter to improve safety and define the space

☔ We were hoping to resurface the bike track too, but Mother Nature had other plans. That’s next on the list!

🧱 Pressure washed our retaining wall

🧸 Pressure washed outdoor toys and equipment

🧼 Steam cleaned every classroom carpet

🎨 Freshened up some of the interior with new paint

🧺 Deep cleaned and sanitized toys throughout the centre

🛠️ Completed repairs, maintenance, and a top to bottom deep clean

These closure weeks are so important to us. They allow us to tackle projects that simply aren’t possible while children are here enjoying the space.

Thank you to every family who supports these maintenance closures. Your understanding helps us continue investing in an environment that is safe, clean, beautiful, and filled with opportunities for children to learn through play.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back. We think you’re going to notice the difference! 🌿✨
