Our programs are designed to nurture social-emotional skills, such as empathy, self-awareness, and problem-solving. The Whole Child Early Learning Centre provides a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate program which fosters active learning, support for the whole child, in a child friendly environment. We are a Reggio inspired emergent curriculum Centre.
A spontaneous moment that had so much meaning behind it .. Giving little boys opportunities to play with dolls actively fosters empathy and emotional intelligence. Through pretend caregiving, boys learn vital communication and nurturing skills, ultimately helping to shape compassionate friends, partners, and future fathers.
In June we had a dump truck from Prince George arrive with 4000 lbs of rubber mulch to add to our already huge gross motor space! We are constantly improving our outdoor classroom that consists of 20,000 square feet of imagination! The children loved doing some “heavy work” which provides vital proprioceptive sensory input helping them build coordination, balance and endurance while completing a real-life task, not to mention how much FUN they had helping!

At The Whole Child, we love incorporating natural and open-ended materials, such as loose parts, into our play. Loose parts are natural or man-made materials that can be moved, manipulated, combined, and explored without specific directions or rules.
With no “right” or “wrong” way to play, children are free to follow their own ideas and learn through exploration.
Loose parts can be found throughout our indoor learning environments, and we also have a dedicated outdoor loose parts area where children can create, discover, and collaborate on a larger scale.
