With a seating capacity of 350, the Canfor Theatre is the largest theatre on the campus. Acoustically excellent, the pie-shaped theatre features steeply raked seating and a ceiling of exposed wood beams. A large screen for audio-visual presentations and a sound system are both built-in.

A group of UNBC students are promoting sustainability and food security while addressing challenges related to climate change through the Eco-Living Kitchen project.
Over the past year, the team of Helga Holler-Busch, Ann Duong, Shauna Kelly and Hannah Lawrence have prepared locally sourced, low-waste kitchen kits, hosted workshops focused on sustainability in the kitchen and held monthly Community Cooking on Campus events.

While attending UNBC, they formed Eco-Living Kitchen (ELK) in response to a call from the Fraser Basin....

YEAR IN REVIEW: Surrounded by 32 beautifully carved cedar planks on the walls of its Lhuhuhwhezdel: Gathering Place, UNBC Nenachalhuya – The Cedar Plank Project earlier this year.

Launched in September 2019 by UNBC’s First Nations Centre, the project serves as a way to honour and give thanks to some of the First Nations communities that the University serves.
Cree/Dakelh artist Clayton Gauthier spent 18 months, including the first six at UNBC’s Prince George campus, carving and painting the planks that represent the logos of 32 nations from across northern B.C. that represent the various and diverse nations UNBC serves. The design of each carving is the official logo of a northern B.C. First Nation which was submitted by the community.
Nenachalhuya is a Dakelh word meaning, “You have done us great honour” or “we are thankful for what you have done.” We say nenachalhuya to these communities for working with us, trusting us to represent them in this way, and trusting us with their students, past, present, and future.

UNBC - Top university in its category in Canada - 2021 Maclean's Magazine Ranking.

“These rankings reflect UNBC’s excellence as an institution as the best small research-intensive university in Canada,” says UNBC Interim President Dr. Geoff Payne.

UNBC topped the chart in the Primarily Undergraduate category out of 19 post-secondary institutions. The magazine released its annual Canadian university rankings Thursday morning.

The University excelled across a wide range of categories, from the quality of faculty, staff, and the services it offers to how it strengthens the student experience through means such as maintaining a vibrant library system and funding scholarships and bursaries.

Mount Allison University finished second behind UNBC, followed by Trent University in third place. Simon Fraser and the University of Victoria tied for first place in the Comprehensive list, while McGill University resumed the top spot in the Medical Doctoral category.

Wearing orange shirts, the UNBC community came together on Wednesday in the Ceremonial Circle/Agora Courtyard at the Prince George campus to acknowledge the many harms that residential schools inflicted on Indigenous People, while recognizing the amazing resiliency of the Survivors.
On National Truth and Reconciliation Day on Thursday, join the Office of Indigenous Initiatives for an online Truth and Reconciliation Talking Circle at 10 a.m. PT. It's an opportunity to learn about why we all need to learn the truth as we walk together along the journey towards reconciliation.
