We are a not-for-profit child care society that prioritizes intentional and responsive education and care.

Weaving together inquiry-based, land-based, and responsive educational practice in a small multi-age centre in the unceded Lheidli T'enneh traditional territory known as Prince George.

How do we show care for materials? Things do break and care sometimes means repair! The children worked with an educator to find materials to create a "robot leg", measure and cut the leg to size, sand the wood down, and wrap and glue the string to hold the new leg on.

This little horse now carries forward a deep history of care in our centre.

Hey all you amazing educators!

Thimbleberry is looking for some casual on-call-ish (usually planned with lots of notice) teachers to join our team!

What are we looking for?

- Casual on-call ECE teaching position, much of the time, we can plan dates that work with your schedule.

- Beginning with just a couple days a month, sometimes more if you are available to cover vacations, etc., hours flexible - usually anywhere between usually 8/8:30 - 4:45ish. We're pretty chill. ;) We run above ratio so we can really support our community of families and build into our collective pedagogy.

- Much of the time, we know the dates a month or more in advance.

- Work with wonderful ECE co-teachers in a small multi-age setting who will support you in elevating your teaching practice in a responsive, slow inquiry-based pedagogy. We're here to learn from each other!

- Base pay of $27-$30 per hour, including ECE-WE, depending on experience and education.

We are looking for a teacher who is interested in thinking with the BC early learning framework and who has or wants to learn to work within an intentional and responsive pedagogy. We seek a wonderful human who is willing to work in a community-focused practice with absolutely incredible families who support us!

Digging up our potatoes together! We have so, so many from our two plants we dug out today. We're excited to roast these and try them!

Did you grow a potato crop this year?

In an effort to think more intentionally with reducing waste, we switched to painting on washable acrylic this year.

Something unexpected happened when we switched: the children are more readily exploring the paint as agentic material. On paper the paint stays put; on acrylic, it slides and flows, moves and mixes.

Do you use acrylic or paper to paint on?

The centre got a little refresh over the summer break! New kitchen cabinets and warm wood slat ceiliing in the cubby room and kitchen!

We're ready to bake some fresh bread in here once the heatwave ends!
