Our Magic of Science campers had a week full of fun and magical experiments!🧪

Campers went ice fishing and designed their own marble mazes. They made cup phones while learning how sound travels. They also created their own biomes and learned how animals adapt to their environments, including how blubber helps animals stay warm in cold conditions. Dr. Kalindi Morgan also joined us for a fun session on natural dyes, where campers got to explore how colours can be created from natural materials. To finish off the week, campers made their own chalkboard slime!🌲

Our Tech Trailblazers campers had a fun week exploring technology and the world of AI!💻

Campers learned how AI works through hands-on activities and explored how machines can be trained. They also experimented with Makey Makey to discover how conductive materials can be used, and got creative with LEGO Mindstorms!

Our Galaxy Explorers campers had an out-of-this-world week!🚀

Campers learned about the night sky by making their own sundials and constellation cups, and used genetics to design their very own aliens. They got to get creative during an astronaut suit fashion show and learned about magnetism while making their own flying astronauts. The week continued with a hike to Shane Lake, where campers explored the outdoors. They also had a lot of fun making their own moon rocks using everyday items. It was a fun week of discovering space!🌌

Engineering Explorers was packed with STEM-based creativity!🛠️

They built spaghetti and marshmallow towers and designed their own pinwheels and catapults. They also visited Dr. Oliver’s Water Treatment Lab, made their own slime, and built electromagnets.🚀

Our Engineering Marvels campers had a week full of building and designing!🚀

Campers put their engineering skills to the test by building towers out of index cards, designing their own boats, creating kites, and making marshmallow and spaghetti structures. They also explored robotics with Dash robots, launched stomp rockets, and made their own flying dragons! The week was spent learning that engineering is all about testing and improving your ideas.🔧

Our Health Heroes campers spent the week exploring the science behind human body and learning about healthcare!🩺

Campers visited the Chemistry Lab with Dr. Jacob Walsh, learned about antibodies through an interactive game, and learned how antibodies fight off germs and illnesses. They also tested their lung capacity and created DNA bracelets to learn more about how DNA is replicated.

Campers stepped into the role of surgeon by performing surgery on Jello. They visited the Nursing Lab to practice using stethoscopes and taking pulses, and learning about different aspects of medicine.

Our Mini Medics campers had an exciting week exploring the human body and medicine!🩺🧬

Campers learned all about bacteria and germs, created their own brain hats, and tested their anatomy knowledge with a fun game of Pin the Organ. They also made their own stress balls to learn more about mental health and how to cope with stress.

A highlight of the week was visiting the nursing lab, where campers learned CPR and got a glimpse into the lives of healthcare professionals. Back in the classroom, they became investigators during a forensic science activity. They also made gene bracelets based on inherited traits like eye colour and dimples and extracted DNA from strawberries that made genetics come to life.

To finish the week, campers put all their new medical knowledge to work at the Teddy Bear Hospital, where they diagnosed their favourite stuffed animals.

We had a fantastic two days partnering with Foundry to bring hands-on STEM activities to youth in Vanderhoof and Burns Lake!

Participants explored biology and environmental science by creating seed bombs with native wildflower seeds, extracting DNA from strawberries, building hydroelectric models, and designing their own water filtration systems.

Science in Motion was packed with action and learning!⚽️

Campers explored biology, engineering, biodiversity, coding, and chemistry through experiments and games. Highlights included making marble mazes and investigating mystery substances. We were also excited to welcome guest speakers in physiotherapy and occupational therapy, giving our campers a glimpse into how science is connected to sports and movement.

Each day ended with fun games and drills led by the Timberwolves staff, giving campers the chance to stay active!
