This week's Tip of the Hat goes to the Vancouver Academy Of Music Harp Ensemble for their fabulous performance of our harp teacher's (Shoshanna Godber) arrangement of "Simple Gifts" at One Harp World in Toronto! How wonderful to have Prince George represented at what is essentially the Olympics of the harp world, held only once every three years and bringing together top performers, composers, and harp legends from over 50 countries. 🎶 https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1KTBTWRwH9/

We are incredibly excited to announce that Cantora Allegre has joined the Conservatory! Since its formation in 2017, Cantora Alegre has grown from a small group of twelve singers to a three-time winner at the Performing Arts of BC festival. Throughout this journey, its primary mission has remained the same: to sing together in a supportive and joyful atmosphere, just as thename—meaning "Joyful Songstress" in Portuguese—suggests.
This treble choir will continue to perform under the direction of choral director Kathy Pereira, exploring a diverse repertoire ranging from madrigals to traditional and contemporary works. Pianist, Elizabeth Klassen will join the choir as accompanist. Weekly rehearsals take place on Monday evenings from 7:15 - 9 pm, including statutory holidays.
If you are interested in joining this positive and vibrant community of singers, auditions will be held at our Open House on Monday, September 14, at 7:15 pm. Currently our group is seeking soprano singers. We look forward to seeing you there and sharing our music. Cantora Alegre - open house and auditions

🎻Very exciting fiddle news - the Nechako Fiddlers (founded in 2005) is being revived! 🎻
Starting this September, we will once again welcome kids, teens and adults to meet on Mondays from 4-6 (4-5 for junior-level players) to learn traditional tunes by ear, along with an arrangement specific to the group to make the tune performable. There will be multiple parts so that everyone can participate and perform together.. People of all ages and levels of playing are welcome, and families are encouraged to participate. Instruments accepted include (but aren't necessarily limited to): fiddle, viola, mandolin, flute, recorder, cello, bass, guitar, piano, possibly drums, banjo.... etc?
Curious? We've got a free drop-in session scheduled for next week Monday, August 24, from 5-6pm! Nechako Fiddlers - free drop in session
