🎉 We’re excited to introduce RAD — Random Attendance Day! 🎉

Each month, we’ll choose one surprise school day to add a little extra fun to being together at school!

📅 When will RAD happen? That’s part of the fun! The date won’t be announced ahead of time. Students will find out when they arrive at school that it’s a RAD day! 👀✨

Each RAD celebration will be a little different. It might include a special activity, a fun experience, a tasty treat, or another surprise! 🎈🍩🎶

Students who are at school that day will be able to take part in the celebration or enjoy the special treat.

RAD is one more way for us to celebrate our students, build school spirit, and make being at school together a little more fun. 💛

Of course, we understand that there are times when students need to be away from school. RAD is simply a fun surprise for those who happen to be here that day.

🦁 Be here. Be part of our school community. And you never know when it might be a RAD day! 🎉

Our Pre-K friends had a wonderful time exploring our community on a fall walk! We talked about recycling and how we can help take care of our community by putting garbage and recyclable items in the right places.

As we walked, we noticed the many changes that happen in the fall. Using our five senses, we looked at the colorful leaves, listened to the sounds around us, felt the cool autumn air, smelled the fresh fall air, and talked about what we might taste during the fall season. The children were excited to share their observations and make connections to what they have been learning in the classroom.

Along our walk, we had a special encounter with a mailman! We talked about his job and how letters and mail help connect people in our community. The children also became letter detectives, looking closely at street signs and finding the letters we are currently learning in our classroom. It was exciting to see their learning come to life in the world around them!

One of our most exciting discoveries was our shadows! The children noticed their shadows following them and wondered why they were there. We explored how the sunlight creates shadows and enjoyed watching our shadows move as we walked.

Our community walk was full of learning, curiosity, discovery, and connection. We loved seeing the children use their senses, recognize familiar letters, observe seasonal changes, and ask questions about the world around them😊

On Monday, September 28, students in Grades 6-8 from King George Public School were invited to attend the Gathering Knowledge from the Four Directions Culture Camp, hosted by the Indian Métis Friendship Centre.

Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to choose from a variety of land-based learning activities or participate in ceremony. They spent time learning from the land while gaining valuable teachings from Elders and Knowledge Keepers.

It was a meaningful day filled with learning, connection, and cultural experiences that helped students deepen their understanding of Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and ways of knowing. We are grateful to the Indian Métis Friendship Centre, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers for sharing their wisdom and creating such a memorable experience for our students.

A heartfelt thank you to Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) for the generous $1,500 grant to support our Culture Room at King George! 💙

This funding helped us purchase mental health kit supplies, a rug, artwork, Indigenous learning materials for staff and students, and items to welcome guests with coffee, tea, and a visit.

Our Culture Room provides a welcoming space for students to build connections, support their well-being, and strengthen their sense of belonging. It is a place where Indigenous students can see their cultures and identities honoured, and where all students can learn about Indigenous histories, perspectives, and teachings.

Through shared learning, visiting, and building relationships, this space helps us take meaningful steps toward reconciliation. **Thank you, SIGA, for supporting our students and school community!**

Truth and Reconciliation Assembly🧡

Our grade 2/3 students had the honour of leading our school’s Truth and Reconciliation Assembly. The students shared important messages and a poem about remembering the children who attended residential schools, honouring survivors, and continuing to learn about the truth of our history.
Thank you to our grade 2/3 students for helping our school community come together to listen, learn, remember, and reflect.

🧡 Orange Shirt Day Reminder 🧡

Students and staff are invited to wear an orange shirt on Orange Shirt Day as we honour Residential School Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the ongoing journey of Truth and Reconciliation.

Please join us for a school-wide assembly at 9:30 a.m. in the gym.

Together, we wear orange to show that Every Child Matters.

🧡 Wear Orange. Learn. Reflect. Remember. 🧡

Yesterday was a great day of land-based learning! Grades K-4 spent the day at Little Red, engaging in a variety of playful outdoor experiences. Students created Nature Mandalas through artistic play, participated in a Medicine Wheel Scavenger Hunt for exploratory play, enjoyed Run and Scream as a game-based activity, discovered Magic Spots through small-world play, and took part in Snake Chase for dramatic play. It was a day filled with creativity, exploration, movement, and fun on the land.
