The 12th Annual Brake for Breakfast is PLPSD’s largest fundraiser of the year, directly funding the daily breakfast and food programs our students rely on. Your generosity ensures every child in our division gets a fair, healthy start to their school day.

October 2026 is Dyslexia Awareness Month in Manitoba. The Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba estimates that 10% to 15% of Canadians face a learning disability, with up to 80% of children with learning disabilities experiencing difficulty learning to read. Help us spread awareness and show support for literacy achievement and well-being for all students! On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Portage la Prairie School Division reflects on our shared responsibility to learn, understand, and build a path forward together. Across our schools, students and staff are engaging in meaningful learning experiences that honour Indigenous histories, cultures, and contributions, while listening to the truths of Residential School Survivors, their families, and communities. By fostering environments grounded in respect, belonging, and well-being, we nurture the spirit of every learner so they may walk in a good way—Mino-Pimatisiwin—and grow toward a hopeful, purposeful future. Wearing orange today is a symbol of our collective commitment to remembering that Every Child Matters, ensuring our schools remain safe, inclusive spaces where every child thrives.

Portage Collegiate Institute (PCI) honoured Orange Shirt Day with a meaningful flag-raising ceremony today. This gathering brought students and staff together in a shared commitment to remembrance, reconciliation, and building a compassionate, supportive school community where every child matters.

To all PLPSD staff, the PLPSD Staff 50/50 Payroll Draw is officially live for the 2026–2027 school year!

Organized as an official partnership between the Portage la Prairie School Division (PLPSD) and the Community Foundation of Portage and District Inc. (CFPD) (LGCA License # 9633-RF-51818), this initiative gives PLPSD staff an easy, automated way to support local students while getting a chance to win.

Please join us on September 30 as we gather in Portage la Prairie to honour Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the ongoing journey of truth, healing and reconciliation.

The National Indigenous Residential School Museum of Canada will also be open to visitors throughout the day.
