Community Update on Acorn’s Daycare Project

When you strive to introduce new ideas and build something innovative for the community, the path forward is rarely perfectly straight. Along the way, we encountered some challenges that required care and patience. We are now very pleased to share that the project is fully back on track.

We are moving forward with a redesigned daycare facility that is not only more aesthetically pleasing, but also offers additional capacity so we can better serve local families and support the growing childcare needs in the community. The new building is expected to arrive in early 2026, with the center opening shortly thereafter.

We extend our sincere appreciation to City staff for their cooperation, to Council for their support, and to our community for your patience and encouragement throughout this process.

We look forward to sharing more positive updates soon as we continue working to bring thoughtful, innovative childcare solutions to the Ti-Cities.

Before Acorn, there was Parkland Players, where the foundation was laid for a new approach to childcare—one that blended the Reggio Emilia philosophy with modern needs. Established in 1995 and shaped by Shohreh’s leadership, it became a model for what childcare should be: hands-on, nurturing, and evolving with the world.
