One of the things I hear the most in the PCOS community is; "PCOS has stolen my femininity!"

I remember feeling that way at one point on my journey too, after years of facial hair removal and missing or non-existent menstrual cycles.

I remember feeling defeated and disconnected from my femininity, my body and from myself. Which has made me curious...

What are the things that you see as "feminine"?

If someone asked you to define "feminine" in 3 words, what words would you choose?

I started feeling more feminine when I redefined the way I see femininity and being "feminine."

I wonder if some of the words you'd choose to describe "feminine" could help someone else see femininity in a more inclusive light? 🩷🫶

Hello Beautiful Souls, I've missed you. I'm back after a BIG break from social media over the Holidays where I got to rest, hibernate, connect with my kiddos & reflect!!!🥰

And let me tell you, I'm feeling beyond grateful for this life I get to live, beard and all!

I was chatting with another Bearded Woman lastnight about the perks of being a woman with a beard in 2025 (there's a sentence I never thought I'd say) 😆 But it's true.

There are actual perks of being a Bearded Lady. Let's explore some just in case you've been conditioned to believe it must be horrible to exist this way:

✨️ There is FREEDOM that comes with living in your body as it is without striving to change it to fit into someone else's standards.

I like to feel free, what about you?

✨️ Once you work through the shame attached to female facial hair, you get to start exploring fun, new ways to care for, style & pamper your beard. This feels so empowering & feminine to me- even though we've been taught not to dare see it that way.

✨️ My Beautiful Bearded Friend has become a bit of a celebrity at her local bakery & they give her free baked goods when she goes because she creates a stir in the shop and people want to be around her! What a PERK right?? Free yummy treats just for having a beard and being yourself, YES please! Sign me up! 🤤

✨️ Bearded Women get opportunities. We get LOTS of opportunities to share our stories on podcasts, in the media, through collaborations, and so much more. I've noticed this to be consistent across our Hairy Ladies Rising Community. We've got Radio Show Hosts, Guinness World Record Holders, Models, Artists, Healers & Lightworkers, and that's just to name a few.

I think people believe life must be terrible for a Bearded Woman, but part of my soul's journey here is to be the light that shines the truth on that misconception. 💡

People LOVE Bearded Women.

We're mysterious, different, magical & exotic- we make people curious because they've not seen women like us before. We hold up a mirror for people, and that is such a privilege!

2025 feels like the Era of the Bearded Ladies! 🧔‍♀️And I am so, so here for it! 🫶🩷

Are you tired of the story you've been told about it being "normal" to hate our bodies as women?

Are you tired of viewing yourself through a lense sold to you by companies who always wanted your money, and never want you to feel good enough as you are?

Are you tired of the shame you carry around for having a human body, one that bleeds (or sometimes doesn't), grows hair & jiggles when you walk?

Me too friend. Me too.

Feeling confident and comfortable in our bodies shouldn't be our biggest mountains to climb in this one precious life we get to live.

Our time is so valuable, why do we use it to tear ourselves down? Are we just repeating a story someone told us when we were young?

Are you tired of the narrative yet?

I am.

Time for a change.
Time for new stories to tell ourselves that leave us feeling empowered, feminine & confident in our bodies, as they are, in all their glorious forms.
Time for healing.
Time for self love.
Time for community.
Time for acceptance.
Time for peace. 🫶

What do you think it's time for?

What have you learned about yourself as a result of having PCOS (Polycystic O***y Syndrome)?

I participated in a research study last week called Thriving With PCOS and I was caught off guard by MY OWN ANSWER when the interviewer asked me this question. 🤭

I'm curious what your answers are if you're a human with PCOS! Drop them in the comments so we have a running list of what we've all learned about ourselves as a result of living with PCOS.

So often we see/hear the negatives involved with having PCOS and we can get caught up there, without anyone to shine the light on the positives.

🔦 Here are just a handful of the things I have learned about myself as a result of living with PCOS for the past 26 years:

✨️ How to take care of my body in the ways that it needs, even if they are different from what we have been taught.

✨️ The importance of having a growth mindset & the positive impact my mindset can have on every aspect of my life.

✨️ The difference between betraying myself to "fit in" & finding spaces where I belong because I can fully express my whole self.

✨️ How to listen to my body, respect it, show it gratitude & believe in it's capabilities.

✨️ We can be feminine AND hairy. It is not one or the other- we can be BOTH.

✨️ You cannot escape the bully if she lives in your head. The way you speak to yourself & your inner world matters & you can always learn to be kinder to yourself.

These are just a few of mine, but I have so many lessons I've learned as a result of living with PCOS, it was literally surprising to hear.

What are some of yours?
Share them with us in the comments!

Let's choose to be the light today! 🫶

Let’s talk about confidence and body image, shall we? If you’re comparing yourself to strangers on the internet, trash-talking your reflection, or believing some outdated beauty standard, stop right there.

Your body isn’t the problem, it never has been. The toxic narratives you’ve absorbed are and they're doing their job if you're self conscious & hating your body.

Ditch the diets, fall in love with the body you have, quit hiding, and start showing up for yourself like the masterpiece you already are!

XoXoXo,

We all have judgments about our bodies, but if yours are stopping you from living the life you truly desire, it might be time to shift your mindset.

Your body is your friend.

Your body is what will carry you and support you the most as you journey towards creating the life of your dreams.

Your body is your friend.

We've all been trained & conditioned to hate our bodies for all the ways they're not enough, and too much at the same time, but...

Your body is your friend.

Your body wants you to experience all that this life has to offer you. The highs, the lows, the joy and the heartbreak. It wants to give you all of the experiences possible.

Your body is your friend.

Will you offer it friendship in return?

Will you greet your judgments with curiosity and listen to the stories and fears your body has to share with you?

Will you respond to it with kindness, courage and compassion?

Your body is your friend and it wants you to live the life you're dreaming about right now! 🫶🩷

Let’s be real for a minute—it’s tough out here right now. With everything going on in the world it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and, let’s face it, a little scared. Especially when you’re a hairy woman, or a non-binary person, who’s already pushing back against society’s outdated beauty standards.

But here’s the thing: you’re not alone in this. We’ve got each other, and that’s something the world can’t take from us. Which is exactly why I created Hairy Ladies Rising, and this month, we’re diving into the power of Supporting Each Other.

Here’s what you’ll get by showing up:
🔥A serious confidence boost from people who get what you’re going through.

🔥Real connections with a community that understands what it means to be unapologetically yourself.

🔥A chance to speak your truth and be truly seen and heard—because your voice matters.

✨️When: Tuesday November 12th, 2024
✨ Time: 1:oopm EST

If you’ve been feeling like you need a place to just breathe, a space where you can fully show up as you are and be surrounded by people who support you 100%, this is it.

Let’s come together, rise above the noise, and remind each other of our strength. Because no matter what’s happening in the world, we’ve got each other’s backs.
