NII was pleased to join the Saugeen Shores Men's Shed this week to share more about our work and impact across the region.

Organizations like Men's Shed play an important role in building strong, connected communities by creating opportunities for members to learn new skills, build friendships, give back and combat social isolation.

Especially during Men's Mental Health Month, it's a reminder of how valuable spaces like this can be.

This week, Erin Beaubien had the opportunity to speak with the group about NII's work and some of the highlights and achievements from 2025.

From community leadership and collaboration to industry advancement and regional development, these awards recognize the people and partnerships shaping the future of our region.

Award recipients will be honoured at the 2026 Clean Energy Frontier Conference this October in Saugeen Shores.

The Canadian Leadership Conference / Conférence canadienne sur le leadership brings together emerging leaders from across business, labour, government, education and the cultural sector to broaden perspectives on leadership, work and community-building across Canada.

As part of their visit to the region, delegates toured local businesses and supply chain organizations, including Bruce Power and the NII Advance Technology Campus.

NII staff were pleased to welcome delegates from across the country, with Jessica Linthorne delivering a presentation on NII’s work in the region and across Canada—highlighting initiatives in clean energy innovation, workforce development and community collaboration.

Thanks to the Town of Saugeen Shores Councillor Dave Myette for helping make this cultural exchange possible and for delivering a thoughtful presentation of the Saugeen Sparks Training Centre.

From robotics and engineering challenges to peer mentorship and career exploration, the 2026 Skills Expo showcased the power of experiential learning and collaboration between education and industry.

We were pleased to welcome students and educators from the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board to the NII Advance Technology Campus and support opportunities that help connect youth to the future of clean energy, skilled trades and innovation.

The energy was electric at the Nuclear Innovation Institute Advance Technology Campus as BGCDSB hosted its highly anticipated 2026 Skills Expo on May 20th, 2026.

Congrats to Sacred Heart Catholic High School on taking home the championship belt at the fourth-annual NII Science Olympics.

Seventeen teams from across the Bluewater District School Board and Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board tackled hands-on STEM challenges testing creativity, teamwork and problem-solving—and the level of talent on display was incredible.

A huge congratulations to all participating students, teachers and schools, and thank you to Framatome and all NII Founding Members for supporting the next generation of STEM leaders in our region:

Students stepped into the world of skilled trades at NII’s Built to Lead event—wiring outlets, testing simulated welding, exploring 3D printing, and connecting with women already building careers in the trades.

“This event is all about possibility. Whether students have always been curious about the trades or they attended because a teacher or parent nudged them through the door, NII is pleased to help introduce them to careers that offer good pay, creative challenges and the pride of building something real,” said Jessica Linthorne, NII President and CEO.

Hosted in partnership with Bluewater District School Board, Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board, Georgian College, County of Grey Sydenham Campus and Grey Bruce Makers, the day brought hands-on learning to life for students across the region—and opened the door to real pathways into apprenticeship and skilled trades careers.

More than 300 students explore skilled trades careers at NII’s Built to Lead event More than 300 students attended the Nuclear Innovation Institute’s Built to Lead event, hosted last week at the Grey County Sydenham Campus to inspire young women’s future careers in the skilled trades.
