People don’t join a school parent council (aka PTA) because they want to hang out with a bunch of Karens.

…Obviously.

They do it because they have a kid in school and they want the best for them, or because they want to know about the programs and activities available (or maybe just want to know what the hell is going on at baseline), or they want to meet other families they can connect with…

Lucky for everyone at Lakewood Elementary, we have the BEST Parent Council I’ve ever known…

Okay, yes, I don’t know any others. But I’ve legit heard this from people who have so... just sayin’. It’s genuinely a fantastic group (with surprisingly very little drama, to boot!).

So if you’re new to Lakewood or just want a place to go where there’s free childcare and adult conversations…

Calling all Laker parents: we are looking for volunteers with completed record checks to help with the Scholastic Book Fair, September 21 to 25! The Book Fair runs during the school day and stays open later on Tuesday, September 22 for the Welcome BBQ. Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. During the sales, you can also purchase books and materials for your child's classroom to support their learning.

One of the BEST reasons to volunteer is seeing how much fun the Lakewood students have at every LEPC event. Whether it's the Welcome BBQ, the Halloween Dance, a Scholastic Book Fair, or the Snack Program, witnessing how much joy just a few hours of volunteering can bring is truly rewarding!

If you'd like to help out, fill out a volunteer police check form and apply for a Vulnerable Sector Check. These can take time to process, so don't delay! They are also FREE with a letter from the school office!

Once you have received your completed Record Check, submit it directly to the school office. This needs to be on file with the school administration before the event. You can find both forms at the bottom of the page here: https://sites.google.com/view/lakewoodepc/volunteer?authuser=0

🎉And that's a wrap! We hope you had a great year, and enjoy the summer! Thank you to the community and everyone who volunteered for LEPC events over the 2025-2026 school year.

From the Welcome BBQ to the Spring Carnival, we rely on parent volunteers to make all the fun happen, raise money for our school community, and offer more support for every student. Please consider volunteering next year, even for an hour - every little bit helps!

What an INCREDIBLE day!

Perfect weather. Games. Prizes. Snow cones… what more could you ask for to celebrate the end of another year?

We absolutely could not have done it without the help of all our student, staff and parent volunteers, so THANK YOU for taking the time out of your busy schedules to help our community celebrate in such a special way.

We had SO MUCH fun!
