Port Colborne High School 100th Anniversary

Amazing news!

Port Colborne High School, located at 211 Elgin St., celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2023 since officially achieving high school status in 1923. In the midst, of celebrating this landmark occasion, a request was made to the L.R. Wilson Heritage Research Archives to make the yearbooks accessible online, so past and present students would be able to read through the history of the school.

We are excited to announce that in celebration of the third day of Archives Awareness Week 2025, we are debuting our latest online exhibit, “Port Colborne High School Yearbooks: The Tattler”.

This online exhibit includes complete scans of 70 yearbooks and tracks the growth of the school from 1922-2019. Click the link below to read about the process of building this online exhibit and for a link to the exhibit.

It is with great sadness that the PCHS 100 Year Anniversary Committee shares the news of the passing of one of our dedicated members, Matthew Whynot.

On March 9, 2023 our group met for the first time with a shared passion for making sure we celebrated this milestone. Matt was a bright light from the very first meeting. He was dedicated, passionate, always had a quick joke and a great laugh. He wanted to ensure that past friendships made it into the future. That people took time to reconnect with those that were important to them.

His hard work spanned 7 months until the anniversary in September 2023, but didn't end there. He also took on the project of hosting the alumni golf tournament at Whisky Run and was working on a project to ensure the golf tournament ran yearly.

Even more dearly, Matt became a great friend afterwards. 7 months of weekly meetings had fostered a friendship between us all and Matt was first to encourage that we continue getting together. We are devastated by the news of his passing and want to share this with anyone who connected with him at the anniversary. ❤️
