The Wildflowers of Point Pelee National Park book signing concluded on May 12th with a wildflower hike which I co-lead with Park Ecologist Tammy Dobbie (depicted in the photo). The book signing was a huge success with more than half the books printed sold. Next year I'll be returning to Pelee to help lead wildflower hikes. I would like to thank everyone for their support. Tomorrow I'm leading a hike in Port Burwell Provincial Park for participants of the Writer's Festival. The hike begins at 8 am at the Park administration office parking lot located at 9 Wilson Lane in Port Burwell. The hike will likely take 2 hours

Announcing - my latest upcoming book authored with Geof Burbidge is scheduled to be published by May, 2026. It should be available at the Pelee book store at Point Pelee National Park and online. I will also be featuring this book at the upcoming Port Burwell Writer's Festival on May 16th, 2026. Come by and visit me at my booth. Will update with prices and a book signing launch date.

Found in Port Burwell Provincial Park today - Proctacanthus rufus - a member of the Maurader group of Robber flies. These voracious apex predators of the insect world are deadly. This specimen has prey - a Cuckoo Bee (Nomada spp.)

My university classmate Kathleen Holland and her significant other Shannon recently stayed at my lodge in Port Burwell. Kathleen made a video for her UTube channel - Hiking with Kathleen. It was a delightful experience to show Kathleen the sites at Port Burwell including the Park. Migrating Piping Plover (Charadrius melodus) and Black-bellied Plover (Pluvialis squatarola) graced us with their presence on the Park beach while my friends were visiting:

Here's a Leporid that I haven't seen since the 1980s! Formerly called European Hare (Lepus europaeus). Now called Brown Hare. These creatures are the size of a small dog and run very fast. Differences between a hares and rabbits are hares have longer ears and legs, are quicker and tend to live solitary lives except while breeding. The young (leverets) are born with fur and eyes open. Whereas rabbits tend to live in underground tunnels called warrens, are social with young born naked and eyes closed.
