The BRICK Learning Centre staff was so glad to be able to join colleagues from Wolf Creek Public Schools, Maskwacis Cree elders and leaders, families, and community members in Ermineskin Cree Nation this past week. We walked in honour of all those affected by residential schools, on Canada's National Day For Truth & Reconciliation.

Our school division recognizes that reconciliation is not a single day or event, and that is why we engage, we honour and we listen daily, and have been working hard to open up graduation and career pathways for all students. This week alone, several of our students have been selected to participate in an Indigenous welding lab developed through collaboration between the school division, Metrax Indigenous and Olds College, while a number of other students are set to visit Maskwacis Outreach School on Thursday to participate in an authentic land-based learning opportunity. We look forward to continued collaboration, and the delivery of more meaningful learning experiences throughout the school year! 🧡

What an incredible day exploring cultural and geological history today with Talking Rock Tours . The hidden history in plain site was a powerful way to spend a day in the spirit of reconciliation. Thank you Kieth for the engaging and informative guided tour. Photo credits go to Israel Potts!

It is a beautiful day in Ponoka, Alberta, and we want to remind our students, parents/guardians and community partners that we are rolling out the grill and serving up hamburgers and hotdogs afterschool today at our ‘Welcome Back BBQ.’ Come visit us between 3-6pm for a bite, to see our school, or to meet our staff, including a couple new teacher faces, like our Math/Science teacher, Mr. Moore, our K&E and options teacher, Ms. Plackner, and our new principal, Mr. Gardner! We are looking forward to a great year. 🍔🌭☀️😎
