Afterward, we head over to The Jolly Coachman Pub! They host us every Thursday. We chose them because their staff is fantastic, the food is wonderful, and the game is always on. They have been consistently awesome to us!

WE HAVE MOVED. Due to scheduling conflicts we had to find a new home for the time being.

Luckily the Maple Ridge - Pitt Meadows School District No. 42 School board had our backs and gave us a beautiful home at Pitt Meadows Secondary School located at 19438 116B Ave, Pitt Meadows

We are still every Thursday @ 7:15 (arrival time) 7:30 (meeting start time) and a Sharp 9:30 (finish time)

As we prepare for National Truth and Reconciliation Day, Blue Heron Toastmasters stands in solidarity with our neighbours and community members in this movement of recognition. We are a community that believes in others. We are also a community that understands the impact of history and values its lessons. It starts with recognition, acceptance, and most importantly of all: action. On this day, and all days, our members look at their children and want to create a world that is safer for all children. Orange Shirt Day is but one day, but the action of inclusion, acceptance, and moving forward with integrity must happen every single day, and at Blue Heron Toastmasters it does.

Last Thursday, Blue Heron celebrated one of our executive members, Jeff Brown🎉

He is also a leader in personal development who helps young men navigate the world's current challenges. Our chair for the night, Andrew Thompson has offered his home and family to supported youth in the foster system. These two men have dedicated their lives to help others through recovery and trauma. They are valued friends and members of our club, and we are proud to have them.

At Blue Heron, we celebrate our members every week. Our meetings are fun, safe and inclusive, and they are a place to laugh, share and feel uplifted while building public speaking and leadership skills.

This Friday, we pause to remember the profound ripple effects of September 11, 2001. While we mourn the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken that day, including 24 of our fellow Canadians, we also honour the 158 brave Canadian Armed Forces members who ultimately gave their lives in the years that followed. When our neighbours and allies worldwide suffered this despicable act of hatred and terror, over 40,000 Canadians stepped forward to take an unwavering stand against this campaign of evil.

We remember their sacrifice, their courage, and the families left behind.It is a privileged life here in Canada because of those who serve to keep evil at bay.

We extend our deepest thanks to our allies around the world and the sacrifices their own soldiers and families gave in response to this fateful day. We know your struggle on this date as a painful reminder of your profound loss, our club holds your countries and your families in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers, just as we know you have ours.

This cenotaph was built by a Canadian Army Veteran, Frank “Tank” Huber, who is a significant role model in the Canadian Army Veterans (CAV) Motorcycle Units. This unit's mission is to help veterans transition out of military life, connect with and support Silver Cross families across our nation, help active personnel and veterans find healthy resources, and share camaraderie on the road.

The 3CAV is a law-abiding, law-enforcement-respected motorcycle unit with close ties to our Canadian Armed Forces. This year, the 3CAV Formation held their rally on a Silver Cross family member’s farm, and Tank built this cenotaph in his backyard as his deeply personal way of honouring the fallen.

This Friday, please join us in a nationwide, symbolic toast to those who served and never made it home, those who are still serving, and the families who have lost loved ones yet continue to give our serving personnel the safety and support they need to do their duty.

On behalf of all my fellow veterans, active service personnel, and our international Toastmasters family, We at Blue Heron Toastmasters salute you.

The new school year is here. Many argue this time of year is a pseudo-new year in terms of summer ending, workforce returning to regular hours and our communities kids are also entering major life changes.

Blue Heron Toastmasters want to say a huge thank you and RAISE A TOAST for the incredible service and dedication our teachers and childcare workers do for our children daily, we wish you a happy, successful, and rewarding new school year!

Teachers and childcare workers shape our future every single day. They guide young minds, build confidence, and create safe spaces to learn and grow.
However, speaking in front of a classroom, leading large groups, or managing community partners and expectations of students and parents is overwhelming. That is where communication and essential leadership skills create collaboration, conflict resolution and progressive culture change. In an era marked by media fragmentation, information fatigue, and complex social anxieties, effective communication is critical.

District 21 Excellence Takes the Stage at the World Championship of Public Speaking!

Our very own Carole Murphy (Blue Heron Toastmasters / Positively Speaking) was invited to serve as the Convention Co-Chair and Host for this year's prestigious event.

Adding to the excitement, District Director Melody Helleouet received a well-deserved award for her tireless efforts leading up to her taking the District 21 helm. Toastmasters District 21 B.C.
