Do your homework parents! With my experience as a WHL player and scout, AGM in the BCHL, and coach at the junior level and every level below there are many consistent factors we see that players are missing today when they come to tryouts. Before you spend your hard earned money on development make sure your son or daughter are learning skills that are transferable at the next level or the ceiling will come quicker than you think. Quality rather than quantity, you can skate 3 hours a day, turn 16 years old and you cant make the next level, how come? A lot of times its because the player doesnt have the right skills to adapt to the next level or havent been taught how to play the game the right way. Remember its a marathon, not a sprint. These kids all grow mentally and physically at different times, enjoy the journey with your kids, let the rink be a fun place to be for them to be.
