What better way to begin their very first competency than by stepping into the clinical environment and experiencing the heart of nursing firsthand?🩺🩷 Meeting patients and witnessing compassionate care in action brought so much meaning to this first learning experience. They had an amazing day!

They sharpened their clinical skills in everything from blood draws and injections to surgical dressings and more. They also each spent the day in the O.R. observing the different roles of the surgical team. Thank you to the staff at St. Mary’s for guiding our future nurses! 🩺👏

This afternoon, students in the Medical Office Specialist program participated in a Microsoft Teams meeting with Emily Kennedy, a Radiation Therapist at Victoria General Hospital. During the presentation, Emily provided an overview of medical imaging procedures, explained the role of radiology professionals in patient care, and discussed the importance of accurate radiology transcription. Students learned how precise documentation supports effective communication among healthcare providers, contributes to diagnostic accuracy, and helps ensure quality patient care. The session offered valuable insight into the field of medical imaging and its connection to the work of medical office professionals.
