SCHOOL COMMUNITY COUNCIL will meet Monday, October 5th at noon, in the school library. We are looking for a few good volunteers to help keep our students and teachers supported. This is a great way to get involved with the school and help our children have a positive school experience. Come out and join the SCC @ noon Monday.

A Walk into Pierceland’s Past!
Mrs. Grundner’s Grade 2 class had a wonderful opportunity today to take a walk into the past with Mrs. Shirley Dyck! As we explored Pierceland, Mrs. Dyck shared stories and interesting facts that helped us discover more about the history of our community. There was so much to see and learn that we ran out of time! We are looking forward to continuing our walk with Mrs. Dyck next month, weather permitting. A huge thank you to Shirley Dyck for generously sharing her time, stories, and knowledge of our community’s past with us!
Our adventure also gave us the opportunity to meet some of the people who help our community run. We met Town Administrator Tammy Landry and Mayor Coral Dale, who helped bring our Social Studies learning to life. We have been learning about what makes a good leader, the qualities good leaders demonstrate, and how leaders work through conflict. Both Tammy and Coral shared what their roles involve, what it means to be a leader in our community, and how they work through problems and disagreements. The children had many thoughtful questions - and even had the exciting opportunity to step inside the walk-in vault that remains from the credit union that once occupied the building!
From there, we visited the Beaver River RM office, where Ms. Po***ck welcomed us and shared more wonderful information. She patiently answered our many questions about leadership, responsibilities, and dealing with conflict. We also discovered another little piece of Pierceland’s history - the original wooden floor from the shoe repair shop that once occupied part of the building is still there today!
Meeting, asking questions, and communicating with members of our community was a wonderful way to make our Social Studies learning meaningful and real. Most importantly, the children were able to see that a community is made up of people who work together, help one another, solve problems, and share responsibilities. We are all interconnected and interdependent, and each of us has a role to play in making our community a great place to live!

Wednesday, September 30th IS a school day in the Northwest School Division. We have activities planned to acknowledge and learn why this day is so important to all Canadians. We have an awareness walk around town and a BUDDY ACTIVITY planned as well.

Congratulations to the Pierceland Senior Girls on capturing gold at their home tournament (defeating the Ernie Studer Devils in the final)! They played strong throughout the whole day, making some great serves, passes, and hits! Way to go!
