Save the date! September 25-26 we're co-hosting the Delhi Park & Marsh Creek Community Bioblitz with the rad folks at Prince Edward County Field Naturalists, South Shore Joint Initiative, Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory, Friends of Delhi Park, VTLA Studio and Trees for PEC 🌳

We're grateful to receive funding to make this happen from the Canadian Wildlife Federation / Fédération canadienne de la faune as part of their annual Great Canadian Bioblitz program 💚

The Bioblitz is free to attend and will offer iNaturalist.org training, informative learning materials about local wildlife, drop-in exploration and activities for all ages, and scheduled walks, workshops and conversations on specific themes and species. Pre-registration for workshops is recommended. No previous experience necessary, just curiosity and a willingness to slow down and look a little closer.

In need of more baby clothing, children's clothing sizes 6/7 to 16/18. Pet supplies (Dry kibble only).

Yesterday, we shared details about our wildfire relief donation drive in partnership with Honouring Indigenous Peoples. Today, we're highlighting the items that are needed most.

Every donation, big or small, helps provide comfort and essential support to individuals and families who have been displaced by the Northern Ontario wildfires.
Most Needed Items:

Clothing (all ages and sizes) – clean, in good condition, with no holes, stains, or rips
Hygiene products – new and unopened (soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, deodorant, lotions, etc.)
Diapers – new and unopened
Menstrual products – new, unopened, and individually wrapped
Toys – new or gently used and in good condition
Blankets – clean and in good condition
Gift cards
Pet supplies – (sealed dry pet food)
Canes and other mobility aids – clean and in working condition

Before donating, please ask yourself:
"Would I use this or give it to someone I care about?"
If the answer is yes, we'd be grateful to receive it.

Please note:

• We are not accepting food or non-perishable food items at this time.
• All donated items will be reviewed upon arrival to ensure they are clean, safe, and ready for immediate use. Please donate with care and kindness, keeping in mind that these items will be going directly to families who have lost so much.

To help our volunteers with sorting and distribution, we kindly ask that donations be organized by category when possible, packed in boxes if available, and clearly labelled.

⛑️Wilderness First Aid Unit⛑️

Our Forest Friday friends have been having a blast these past few weeks learning and practicing wilderness safety and first aid skills!

Each week, we’ve introduced new challenges that require teamwork, respectful communication, problem-solving, empathy, and resourcefulness. It’s been wonderful to see their plant knowledge, engineering skills, creativity, and care for one another on full display.

The challenges:

🤕 Building stretchers using foraged and found materials
🌱 Identifying medicinal plants that can be used to create a poultice for cuts, stings, and scrapes
💧 Learning the basics of water filtration
🔥 Fire building (with the fun bonus of roasting marshmallows over our own fires!)
🆘 Practicing smoke signals and SOS signals
🪢 Hanging shelters

We are so proud of this group and all they continue to learn, create, and accomplish together!

Our 3rd annual Spring Forest Family Day with Pete Moss and community guests was a blast!!!

Can’t wait to explore the beautiful grounds at Macaulay Heritage Park this Saturday!

💦Down by the creek where the children play 💦⛵️🎣

Boats have been created and sailed, fishing rods constructed and many a potion concocted.

Each day, we hike back—eager to see how the creek has changed form. It’s special to visit through the seasons and watch it transform from a frozen surface into flowing water.

Creek play encourages child-led, curiosity-driven exploration, and inquiry. It also fosters an understanding of ecosystems, STEM concepts like math and science, and environmental stewardship.
