“One year ago today. Aug 2 2023”
Sometimes my phone randomly chooses pics to show me as “memories”. Well, this came up recently and I was shocked… again.
I remember this picture perfectly and how I felt when I first saw it. It was then when I knew I had to do something about my health. For realz this time!
I’ve always been on the lean side up until my late teens… then s**t happened. (I’ll spare you that story in lieu of this one).
It wasn’t until 3 months later (nov 23) that I decided to finally do something about it. For decades, I’ve done every diet, every fad, and suffered the “lose then gain even more vicious cycle”. Sure I had success, but then failed miserably time and time again.
More was never enough nor was less—I was an extremist (all or nothing).
In the last nine months, I’ve lost more than just 10 inches around my waist; and 40 scale pounds—I lost my desire for bypassing, distracting, avoidance, and trying to fill the void with whatever pleasure I could have. The desire for feel-good food, alcohol and dare I even say coffee has fallen away naturally.
Nothing permanently changes on the outside unless you change first on the inside. The funny thing is, this has been the easiest transition ever.
No fasting, biting my hands due to hunger, no pills, pre-workout or any type of stimulants or supplements. I didn’t even lift weights or did any cardio. (Although I feel resistance training is nigh). It was all done simply by breathing and walking.
Whatever you seek, seeks you. Whatever you resist will persist. I fought so hard in the past… in its place was true surrender… sustained with unwavering discipline.
I don’t know where the path will lead me, but I know for the first time it just feels right. Will I partake in a beer or a cappuccino here and there? Prolly… but no longer because of FOMO or remedy. Yes you can still have fun without booze and dirty food! 😝
