National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism is dedicated to honouring the memory of all those who have been harmed or who have lost their lives to acts of terrorism in Canada or abroad. KPR joins all Ontario government buildings and establishments across the province in lowering flags to half-mast to mark this important day.

Yesterday, June 21, marked National Indigenous Peoples Day. We honour the contributions of First Nation, Métis and Inuit peoples and express our gratitude to all Indigenous peoples for sharing their voices, knowledge and experiences within KPR. We value the relationships, teachings and learning cultivated in our schools and classrooms.

As graduation ceremonies take place this week, we share special congratulations to KPR graduates and all those celebrating a milestone in their education! Whether graduating from Kindergarten, going into intermediate school or Grade 9, or finishing your final year of high school or completing a continuing education program – we extend our best wishes to graduates as you begin a new and exciting chapter!

Yesterday, June 21, was Summer Solstice, marking the longest day of the year. Summer Solstice also holds important cultural significance for many Indigenous peoples. We wish a Happy Summer Solstice to all those celebrating in local communities.

KPR’s Summer Start Peterborough program helps support a smooth transition for Grade 8 students starting high school in September!
Running from June 29 – July 27th at Thomas A. Stewart S.S. from 8:30am – 2:30pm, the program focuses on enhancing student’s literacy and numeracy skills, and learning and communication skills that support organization and planning. In addition, students have the opportunity to explore a skilled trade, with the option to participate in either a culinary or construction stream!

Happy Pride Month! Students, staff and school communities come together this month to celebrate, uplift and support the voices of 2SLGBTQQIA+ communities!
Students and staff will be celebrating Pride in positive and meaningful ways to build on our collective work to help students feel included, reflected and welcomed at school. While Pride month is an intentional time of celebration and learning, schools embrace opportunities to educate, promote acceptance and reaffirm values of equity, diversity and inclusivity all year round.
