A huge thank you to all of the parents, grandparents, staff and students who joined us for our prop and costume work session on Monday evening!
Because of your time, creativity, and willingness to lend a hand, we accomplished an incredible amount and are one step closer to bringing Tiny Seeds. Mighty Hearts. to life on stage. From painting and building to sorting and creating, every contribution made a difference.
At CMS, our community is one of our greatest strengths, and we are so grateful for the support that surrounds our students and school. Thank you for helping us create something truly special—we can’t wait to share the finished production with you!

Earlier this week, the grade 6-8 classes returned from an unforgettable 3 days at Camp Medeba — slightly dirtier and a lot more tired. They also came home with stronger friendships, greater confidence, and memories that will last for years to come.
Over the course of the trip, students challenged themselves, learned new skills, and embraced every opportunity that camp life had to offer. From outdoor challenge activities to songs, games, and plenty of laughter, each day was filled with experiences that encouraged teamwork, resilience, and personal growth. We laughed, ran, sang at full volume, danced with questionable rhythm, toasted marshmallows under the stars, conquered fears, learned new skills, consumed alarming amounts of candy, donated blood to approximately seven million bugs, all while fully embracing the beauty of outdoor life.
A massive thank you to our incredible parent volunteers, Ange, Kevin, and Leith. Your help, patience, bug tolerance, enthusiasm, and willingness to jump into every adventure helped make this experience possible — and memorable for all the right reasons.
possible. We are so grateful for your support and for the care you showed our students throughout the trip.
Somehow, between the campfires, chaos, and candy, the Uppers also managed to sleep, eat, and and discover that some of the best memories are made when you put away the screens and fully immerse yourself in the moment. What a wonderful reminder that some of the some of the most meaningful learning happens beyond the classroom walls.

Last week at CMS, our staff embraced a little extra fun and community spirit through our “Top Secret Staff Spirit Week!” These playful theme days were all about building connection, encouraging laughter, modeling school spirit, and reminding our students that learning communities grow stronger when we take time to have fun together.
Tuesday — “Anything BUT a Water Bottle” DayWednesday — Monochromatic DayThursday — Fun Hats & Headwear DayFriday — “Typical Tourist” Day (yes… socks and sandals absolutely made an appearance!)
By Friday afternoon, we gathered together as a school community to finally reveal the secret spirit days and show off our hilarious holiday outfits.
Thank you to our amazing staff for bringing so much joy, silliness, and school spirit to our halls.
And don’t worry… we are hoping things return to our regularly scheduled teacher programming this morning.

Our Casa 1 classroom had a “buzzing” good time celebrating World Bee Day on Wednesday. 🐝
Students explored the important role bees play in our environment through meaningful discussions, hands-on exploration of bee hives, and creative learning activities. They created beautiful “pollination art” using “bees” as paintbrushes and even joined the Global Waggle Dance Challenge!
It was a day full if discovery, engagement, and appreciation for these tiny but mighty pollinators that help our world grow.

Today we celebrate and honour all mothers, caregivers, and maternal figures whose love, guidance, encouragement, and care help children grow and thrive each and every day. From moms and grandmothers to stepmothers, foster mothers, adoptive mothers, guardians, and mentors — thank you for the countless ways you nurture and support the children in your lives.
We also hold space for those who may find today difficult, and send love, gratitude, and kindness to all members of our CMS community. ❤️
These photos are just a small glimpse of the thoughtful gifts, handmade with care and lovingly shared with our CMS families this Mother’s Day.
Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at CMS! 💐

At CMS, we have so much fun learning, growing, and laughing together! 💛
From hands-on activities to special moments shared with friends, our students and staff continue to make every day at CMS so meaningful and memorable.
Here are just a few highlights from the past week — from watercolour painting and math BINGO with Reading Buddies to checking out the buds growing from our planting activities, and tons of outdoor fun, including skipping, playing Gaga Ball, and even Mrs. Connelly taking her turn up to bat!
Ms. Clark also had a special moment while swimming at the YMCA with her class this week when two of her former students who work as aquatics instructors, Paige and Payton, popped over to say hello. They were part of her very first class at CMS and are now finishing their first year of university! We love having opportunities to reconnect with our CMS family. 💙
We hope everyone has a fantastic weekend ahead!

We’d like to share a huge congratulations to all of our students who participated in our Annual CMS Spelling Bee in April!
We are so proud of the confidence, preparation, and perseverance each student demonstrated. Standing up to spell in front of peers takes courage, and our students rose to the challenge beautifully.
A special shoutout to our division winners—Joseph, Levi, Ares and Neil. We wish you the very best as you represent CMS today at the Peterborough Regional Spelling Bee, hosted by the Rotary Club of Peterborough - Canada.
We wish you G-O-O-D L-U-C-K, good luck!

🌎💚 Celebrating Earth Day at CMS! 💚🌎
Today, our students rolled up their sleeves and dove into hands-on learning to honour our beautiful planet. From sorting activities that helped us understand the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling, to exploring how composting supports a healthier Earth, every moment was filled with curiosity and care. We also made the best of the beautiful spring day, as the kids had a blast enjoy the sunshine, fresh air and activity together outside.
Our classrooms were buzzing as some students transplanted seeds while others observed their growing plants, learning how even the smallest actions can help things grow And of course, we added a little creativity and fun to the day—designing festive Earth Day hats and baking delicious Earth Day cupcakes!
In the lead-up to this special day, some groups also expressed their appreciation through creative artwork and Earth Day-inspired poetry creating beautiful reflections of their growing understanding of the world around them.
Today was a joyful reminder that when children connect with the Earth in meaningful ways, they grow into thoughtful, responsible stewards of our world. 🌱
