Another very special graduation ceremony is in the books at Kawartha Montessori School!
Our graduation celebration was filled with meaningful moments as we recognized and celebrated each of our graduates and the unique contributions they have made to our school community.
From individual speeches honouring each graduate, to the graduates themselves sharing reflections, memories, and hopes for the future, to awards recognizing achievements and growth.
We were honoured to welcome special guests who helped make the occasion even more memorable.
Graduation is always a bittersweet milestone. While we will miss these incredible young people, we are so excited to see where their next adventures take them.
Congratulations, Graduates 2026! Once a KMS student, always a part of the KMS family. 💙🎓

Another beautiful tradition at Kawartha Montessori School’s Grade 8 graduation ceremony is the gift of song.
As part of the celebration, our Lower Elementary (LE) and Upper Elementary (UE) students come together to offer a musical gift to the graduating class—an expression of gratitude, admiration, and connection across the grades.
Our Middle School band also takes part in the ceremony, performing a selection of pieces, including the timeless Pomp and Circumstance, adding a sense of tradition and significance to this important milestone. These musical moments are always a highlight of the ceremony, reminding us that graduation is not just an ending, but a celebration of the entire school community that has supported and shaped our students along the way. 🎶💙

What a gift it is to have the Canadian Canoe Museum right here in our community- and to partner with them each year for our Middle School canoe trip.
At Kawartha Montessori School, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens beyond the classroom walls. Through paddling, teamwork, problem-solving, and time spent in nature, our students develop confidence, resilience, independence, and a deeper appreciation for the world around them.
During a recent visit to the museum, I came across a quote that perfectly captures the value of these experiences:
"True personal growth happens when we step beyond our comfort zone, embrace new challenges, and acquire new skills. Through outdoor activities such as paddling, the confidence and camaraderie gained extend far beyond the water, shaping attitudes towards others and nature. Outdoor pursuits and shared adventures like paddling offer profound personal transformation and a fresh outlook on life’s possibilities."
This is exactly why our annual canoe trip remains such an important Middle School tradition. The lessons learned on the water stay with our students long after the paddles are put away. 🍁🛶🌲

Another exciting end-of-year tradition at Kawartha Montessori School is our annual community picnic.
This event is all about bringing our community together, having fun, and celebrating another incredible year of learning and growth. Even though we were met with a bit of rain and wind, this community knows how to make the best of every moment-and this year was no exception.
We enjoyed an incredible lineup of activities, including a magic show by Jason Chessar (also a parent in our community), a bouncy castle, water slide, bubbles, bracelet making, face painting, hair tinsel, drawing stations, photo props, soccer, snow cones, a potluck feast, and a raffle in support of new classroom resources. We were also treated to live music by Irish Millie, one of our very own KMS alumni.
A gigantic thank you to the Peterborough community for your generous donations, and to our dedicated staff and volunteers whose time, energy, and care make events like this possible. These shared celebrations are a true reflection of what makes Kawartha Montessori School so special.

The Moving Up Ceremony is one of the most beautiful traditions at KMS.
Each year, families gather to celebrate an important milestone as students move from one stage of their Montessori journey to the next. We proudly recognize our third-year Casa students moving into Lower Elementary, our third-year Lower Elementary students moving into Upper Elementary, and our third-year Upper Elementary students beginning their Middle School experience.
The ceremony begins with the gift of song, followed by heartfelt speeches written and delivered by students welcoming their new classmates into the program. Their words of encouragement, wisdom, and excitement help make this transition especially meaningful.
It is a joyful celebration of growth, achievement, community, and new beginnings. Congratulations to all of our students—we are so proud of you and excited for what lies ahead! ❤️

A gigantic thank you to our teachers, Libby and Lucy, for leading Yearbook Club and working alongside students to create such an extraordinary memory book. Their dedication, creativity, and attention to detail have resulted in a keepsake that will be treasured for years to come.
We are so grateful for the time and care that went into preserving these memories and celebrating the spirit of our school community.
