Our Casa students were fortunate enough to experience an exciting field trip with Astronomy in Action- an inspiring introduction to the wonders of space exploration. 🚀✨

The children explored the fascinating world of space and learned how groups of stars form patterns in the sky called constellations. They discovered that Earth is our home planet and were able to identify both the Sun and the Moon.

They also learned about astronauts and how they travel into space aboard powerful rocket ships. With great enthusiasm, the children imagined themselves as astronauts—putting on their “spacesuits” and preparing for their own space adventures.

The learning continued as they explored some of the planets in our solar system, including Mars, Jupiter, and Venus, sparking curiosity and wonder about the universe beyond our world. 🌍🌕🪐

Camp Kandalore Adventure! 🏕️

Our Grade 1–6 students made lasting memories during an unforgettable three-day adventure at Camp Kandalore last week!

From paddling across the water in kayaks and canoes to testing their courage on the climbing wall and high ropes course, students embraced every opportunity for challenge, growth, and fun. They cooled off with water games and activities, enjoyed time by the lake, practiced their aim in archery, and took part in countless camp games and team-building activities.

Evenings were filled with campfires, songs, skits, laughter, and the kind of friendships that grow stronger when shared through new experiences and adventures.

The three days were packed with excitement, discovery, and memories that will stay with our students for years to come. Thank you to the Camp Kandalore staff for creating such a wonderful experience and to our teachers and volunteers for making this adventure possible!

It's that special time of year when we pause to send a little extra love and gratitude to the people who care for us. ❤️

Our annual Casa Loved Ones Picnic was a wonderful celebration of connection, appreciation, and community.

In preparation for this special event, the Casa children carefully created invitations, baked treats, prepared refreshments, and helped organize every detail. Their excitement and pride were evident as they welcomed their loved ones to our outdoor classroom space.

With picnic blankets spread across the grass and baskets filled with delicious homemade goodies, families gathered together to share food, laughter, and meaningful moments. It was a beautiful opportunity for our children to express their gratitude and show just how much their loved ones mean to them.

Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, and special guests who joined us. Your love, support, and encouragement help our children grow each and every day. We are so grateful to have you as part of our community.

One of the most beautiful things about Montessori is watching a child dive deeply into their own interests and take ownership of their learning.

Here’s a wonderful example from one of our Casa students, who took the clock materials and extended the work in such a creative and meaningful way. By making time visible and hands-on, they moved beyond memorization and into true understanding.

Moments like these remind us how powerful Montessori learning can be—where concepts become concrete, curiosity leads the way, and learning truly comes alive.

Our Grades 7 & 8 students have been at the Canadian Canoe Museum getting ready for their upcoming 4-day canoe trip.

They have been busy packing, building confidence through hands-on practice, and strengthening essential paddling skills, including canoe-over-canoe rescue techniques.

These kinds of experiences are a meaningful part of Montessori learning-developing independence, teamwork, resilience, and a deep connection to the natural world.

We can’t wait to hear all of their stories when they return and reflect on what is sure to be an unforgettable journey.

Celebrating Our Incredible Volunteers

Today, we had the pleasure of hosting a special Volunteer Appreciation Celebration to recognize the many people who help make Kawartha Montessori School such a vibrant and caring community.

Our volunteers contribute in countless ways -serving as Board members, supporting field trips, helping at our Cross Country event, tending our gardens, reading with students, assisting at community events like the Fall Fair and End-of-Year Picnic, and serving on our Engagement Committee to bring families together throughout the year. Their generosity of time, energy, and expertise makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and our school community.

To express our gratitude, students welcomed our volunteers with tea, coffee, and special treats. Our Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Middle School students also collaborated to create beautiful handmade flowers, each featuring messages of thanks for the volunteers who enrich our community.

🌱 From Seed to Sale… and So Much More! 🌱

Last week, our Lower Elementary students welcomed families to their annual Seed to Sale event. While it may have looked like a plant sale on the surface, it was actually the culmination of months of hands-on learning, collaboration, and care.

The journey began long before sale day. Students harvested seeds from vegetables and plants, learned how to ferment and prepare them for planting, and carefully nurtured their seedlings as they grew. Through engaging botany lessons, they developed a deeper understanding of plant life cycles, growth requirements, and the interconnectedness of living things.

As the event approached, students organized themselves into committees, each taking on important responsibilities. One committee transformed the classroom into a welcoming marketplace, another designed and created signs and displays, while others helped with pricing, customer service, plant care, and sales.

To make the event even more special, the Lower Elementary students collaborated with our Middle School students to prepare a variety of snacks and drinks for visitors. Together, they baked goods, popped fresh popcorn, and served homemade lemonade.

The Seed to Sale event is a beautiful example of Montessori education in action -where science, entrepreneurship, responsibility, creativity, and community come together in a meaningful, authentic learning experience.

Thank you to everyone who supported our young gardeners and entrepreneurs. We can't wait to see these plants thriving in their forever homes! 🌿💚
