We look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday, January 25! Please remember there are enhanced protocols in place, and that all students in grades 1-6 must wear a mask. Masks will also be worn outside when a distance of 2 metres is not possible to maintain. The provincial government has announced the dates when students will be able to return to in-person learning. These dates vary across Ontario, depending on the status of COVID-19 cases within each Health Unit’s region.
For KPR elementary and secondary schools, this means:
• Schools located in Northumberland County and in Peterborough City and County will reopen January 25 for in-person learning.
• Schools located in the Municipality of Clarington remain closed to in-person learning. We will inform families of any potential return to school date as soon as it is provided to us by the province.
Students in stand-alone Learning and Life Skills (LLS) classes in all areas of the board will continue to participate in face-to-face learning at their home school with their teachers and support staff during this period.
Learning in our Virtual Elementary and High Schools will continue as usual.
The province has also announced that masks will be mandatory for Grades 1-12 students when they return to in-person schooling, regardless of the date. Masks will be highly recommended, but not mandatory, for Kindergarten students. New masking requirements will also be in place for outdoor activities where physical distancing of at least two metres is not possible.

Hello Raptor families! We are happy to say that we have had a very smooth start-up and things are going well here at R.F. Downey! Our staff and students are amazing at adapting to new routines and structures, and we can tell that similar routines have become a habit at home, so thank you! We are pleased to announce that we will be participating in a Socially Distanced Terry Fox Walk/Run on Friday, October 2. Classes will participate either individually or with their cohort at a designated time throughout the day. We will be using the perimeter of our yard and Milroy Park to keep things safe! Donations are encouraged to be on-line and you can set up your child's profile for donations at: https://secure.terryfox.ca/registrant/TeamFundraisingPage.aspx?TeamID=909867

We have also set up Cash Online for this purpose and if you are having trouble accessing Cash Online, please contact the office and we can send you instructions. Students will participate with our without donations, and if cash is your only option, we will have a container in the foyer outside of the office that we will leave for 72 hours following the event before emptying!

We look forward to a great event and we know how important it is to our families to support this cause!
